Fake Mate Beta Rises to Alpha Heiress (Natalie and Landon) novel Chapter 298

Chapter 298 Have We Met Somewhere Before?

Cameron’s POV:

The room fell silent for a moment when Natalie finished her speech, then erupted into enthusiastic applause.

I sat in the front row, clapping along, but my eyes stayed fixed on the woman on stage. She wore a tailored white suit, crisp and sharp. But that wasn’t what impressed me most.

It was her performance. I had been completely engrossed during her presentation. She was charismatic, spoke entirely in foreign languages-switching between two of them effortlessly.

She reeled off data on new energy, biotech, and werewolf community growth-no notes, no hesitation. The content was packed with industry jargon and figures that even seasoned professionals might struggle to recall perfectly.

Yet Natalie’s delivery was smooth, as if she were listing familiar facts.

That display of real skill proved she was anything but ordinary.

I’d heard of this heiress of the Moon-Shadowed Pack before-rumored to be the long-lost daughter of Maritime City’s wealthiest man. Gossip said she was just a young she-wolf, lacking elite education or proper grooming, completely unfit for responsibility. People claimed Alexander made a mistake leaving his legacy to her, and that the Moon-Shadowed Pack was headed downhill.

I had thought so, too, for Alexander to entrust his company to an untested heir seemed far too risky.

But now, I couldn’t help having second thoughts. Staying calm in such a setting was hard enough for anyone. Natalie’s performance had been flawless.

After the speech, several industry leaders gathered around her. A friend patted my shoulder. “Cameron, want to meet Ms. Anderson? I can introduce you.”

I snapped out of my thoughts and nodded.

Natalie’s POV:

The venue was much warmer inside than outside. Soon after entering, I took off my black cashmere coat and handed it to my assistant. Underneath was a chic white skirt suit.

As today’s conference representative, I needed to give a speech. I praised several outstanding domestic companies and projects, delivering a simple yet polished opening address.

After finishing and briefly chatting with a few interested executives, I prepared to leave.

That was when a prominent tech figure from Maritime City approached with a man I hadn’t seen before.

He said, “Ms. Anderson, this is Cameron Parker, CEO of Gallop Energy and a good friend of mine. I mentioned him to you earlier.”

Before the summit, I’d made time to review the attending companies. Gallop Energy had a strong background and operated in fields that interested me.

I immediately smiled and extended my hand, “Mr. Parker, it’s a pleasure. I’ve heard so much about you. I hope we have a chance to collaborate someday.”

“Ms. Anderson, you stole my line,” Cameron said with a bright laugh. Behind his thin-framed glasses, his deep eyes met mine directly.

I offered a gracious smile, took a business card from my assistant, and personally handed it to him.

Cameron promptly offered his card in return.

After some small talk, Cameron suddenly said, “Ms. Anderson, have we met somewhere before?”

“I don’t think so,” I replied, pausing. I also noticed his gaze was a bit too direct.

Reminded by the person beside him, Cameron quickly nodded apologetically. “Sorry, must be my imagination. For some reason, I feel an odd sense of familiarity when I see you. A kind of…

warmth.”

I was used to empty compliments and didn’t take them to heart. “Then there must be some kind of connection. I actually find you easy to talk to too, Mr. Parker.”

Cameron immediately invited me to dinner after the event. I glanced at my assistant.

My assistant said promptly, “Mr. Parker, our apologies, but Ms. Anderson’s schedule is fully booked today…”

I raised a hand to stop my assistant and turned back to Cameron. “How long will you be in Maritime City, Mr. Parker? Perhaps I can invite you when I’m free.”

“I came specifically for the summit. I will leave tomorrow,” said Cameron.

Sensing my reluctance, he backed off gracefully. “No matter. I’ll have more business here in the future. Next time I’m in town, you must honor your promise and join me for a meal, Ms. Anderson.”

“Absolutely.” After finishing the pleasantries, I took my black coat from my assistant, slipped it on, and quickly left through a private exit.

On the way back, my phone rang.

I thought it was Leonardo. After leaving the venue, I’d habitually sent him a message.

I’d even mentioned Cameron. Some of Gallop Energy’s projects were actually competitors to the Sanchez Group’s interests.

But when I answered, a woman’s voice came through. “Natalie.”

Cameron’s POV:

After Natalie left, I watched her retreating figure for a long time.

My friend nudged me. “Cameron, I know Ms. Anderson is striking, but a word of warning- she’s taken!”

“Oh?” I raised an eyebrow.

“By Leonardo, the head of the Silver-Maned Pack!” my friend whispered. “Word is he’s extremely devoted to her.”

The name “Leonardo” made me frown. The Silver-Maned Pack was one of the most powerful domestically, with a commercial empire spanning the globe. While Leonardo kept a low profile in the domestic business world, his reputation internationally was formidable.

So that’s how it was.

Coming back to myself, I pulled out my phone to save Natalie’s contact, only to see over a dozen missed calls from Aaliyah.

I called Aaliyah back immediately and asked where she was.

“I’m at the coffee shop across the street,” Aaliyah said.

“My apologies. I had my phone on silent. Is something wrong?” I said.

She said, “The entrance was closed earlier. They weren’t letting anyone in, so I didn’t go inside.”

After hanging up, I lost interest in staying at the venue. I said goodbye to my friend and went out to find Aaliyah.
