Chapter 299 Ignored Everyone Else

Natalie’s POV:

It wasn’t fully dark yet when I got home.

Leonardo had only been recovering for a few days, but he was already restless. Since I wouldn’t let him go out, he’d started handling work online.

Every afternoon, my living room turned into a conference room, with a stream of people coming to report to him.

I was aware of it, but I chose to look the other way.

My own work would take a few more days to wrap up, so I couldn’t keep him company all day. He’d be bored with nothing to do.

When I entered, I sensed at least seven or eight different pheromones mixed in the air. He was in a meeting.

Holding my breath, I slipped inside quietly. Sure enough, the living room was packed with the Sanchez Group executives. Leonardo sat in the center of the sofa, surrounded and hidden from view.

I blended into the crowd and watched him. Aaron was the first to spot me, his eyes widening instantly. He glanced nervously at Leonardo. I put a finger to my lips, signaling him to be quiet.

The man on the sofa wore dark gray loungewear. His hair was unstyled, falling softly across his forehead. A pair of gold-rimmed glasses sat on his nose, stripping away his usual untouchable aura-though he still didn’t look the least bit approachable.

He flipped through a project report with one hand. The other rested on his thigh, pressing down on his phone. His posture was relaxed, but the oppressive weight in his pheromone hadn’t lessened at all.

When working, Leonardo was coldly efficient-professional, distant, and completely unreadable.

Even facing the worst situations, not a ripple of emotion showed in his eyes. But his was so intense that his silence alone could drive people mad.

presence

The whole room felt stifling. I could feel heavy tension hanging in the air-Leonardo’s instinctive reaction when he was displeased. Even without a word or action, the oppressive force of a top-tier Alpha was enough to suffocate everyone.

A long time later, Leonardo finally tossed the documents aside. He picked up his phone and

glanced at it.

Aaron ventured cautiously, “Mr. Sanchez, should we adjourn?”

Leonardo didn’t look up, his gaze still fixed on the screen.

I checked my own phone. Oh, no! Over an hour ago, Leonardo had asked what time I’d be back. I’d said I’d try to be early, then got a call and forgot to reply.

“Who’s responsible for this mess?” His voice was calm-like the calm before the storm.

Everyone around drew a sharp breath. I could smell the scent of fear spreading through the air.

Aaron’s POV:

Leonardo’s voice gave nothing away. He rarely got distracted by his phone during meetings.

Was he messaging HR right now to have them all optimized?

A project had hit a snag and might fall through, but it wasn’t hopeless.

Was he really giving them zero chances?

Leonardo almost never showed emotion when reviewing failures.

Once, an entire department’s negligence cost the company over a hundred million dollars. Within three months, Leonardo had cleared out not just that department but several senior executives along with it.

That kind of drastic restructuring was both ruthless and costly.

It showed just how decisive Leonardo could be.

No one dared answer his question.

I gently nudged him with my elbow, but he ignored me. I nudged him again, and he suddenly shot me a look that made me jump.

“Oh? You want to take responsibility?” he asked.

I was scared. “No, that’s not…”

Natalie’s POV:

I couldn’t help clearing my throat softly. The sound was soft, but in the tense room, it stood out clearly.

Leonardo’s head snapped up. In that instant, I saw the change in his eyes-from frigid and devoid of any emotion, to suddenly softening into a warmth that felt almost unreal.

He tried to stand, but the abrupt movement pulled at the wound on his back. He grimaced, and Aaron quickly moved to support him.

“Don’t move around!” I hurried over and sat beside him.

Leonardo shook off Aaron’s hand, took off his glasses, and reached to touch my face. His touch was feather-light, as if handling his most precious treasure.

“Why didn’t you say you were back?” he asked, his voice softer than I’d ever heard. The shift in his demeanor was lightning-fast, and he completely ignored everyone else.

I could feel the stares around us-shocked, curious. But right then, I only saw Leonardo.

An Executive’s POV:

After Natalie arrived, Leonardo seemed like a completely different person.

For a moment, none of us knew where to look. We glanced at the ceiling, the floor, left and right, but eventually our eyes drifted back to the two of them.

So the rumors were true-Leonardo was utterly devoted to his wife!

Who could have imagined that a man who seemed so detached and cold, as if devoid of emotion, could have such a gentle side?

The oppressive atmosphere that had filled the room just seconds ago seemed to vanish entirely.

Now the air carried a faint, sweet scent-something like love.
