Fake Mate Beta Rises to Alpha Heiress (Natalie and Landon) novel Chapter 321

Ditch Fake Bond: She’s Tycoon Wolf Heiress

Chapter 321 Chose to Retreat

Aaliyah’s POV:

Finished

Today, Landon and I went to the Temple of the Moon Goddess to break our bond. Over a decade ago, we had secretly completed our connection here under the Moon Goddess’ gaze. Now we were back to break it.

For werewolves, a true separation took more than just legal documents. A priest at the Temple must sever the spiritual link between mates.

I knew I couldn’t avoid it. Landon was determined to go through with this. Begging him would only make things worse.

Besides, he’d just learned about my past deception and was furious. If I stubbornly refused to break the bond now, it would push our relationship past the point of no return.

I wanted to leave the door open for us to make up. At the very least, I needed to defuse the immediate

conflict.

After the formalities, we had a quiet meal nearby.

Dinner was silent. I served him food, but Landon neither refused nor acknowledged it.

On the way back, I accompanied him to get his bandages changed.

Landon’s injuries were all external, so getting around wasn’t difficult. I dropped him off at home, then went to the supermarket myself to buy him a bunch of supplies.

When I returned to the house, Landon was upstairs in the media room playing video games.

“I’m leaving now,” I organized the things I’d bought and spoke softly outside the door.

Landon didn’t turn around or respond. It was as if he hadn’t heard me.

I never imagined our intense, decade-long relationship would come to this.

But I knew that in matters of the heart, following raw emotion was the stupidest move. The more it hurt, the more I needed to be rational.

“Take good care of yourself. Don’t worry about Thorn Pack business. Even though our bond is broken, I won’t allow anyone to hurt you.” After saying that, I didn’t wait for a response, then turned and left.

I knew Landon. Right now, he was blinded by anger and wounded pride. My past lie was the deepest thorn in his side. Pleading or explaining would only make him more defiant. It would use up the last shreds of affection between us and might even push him to do something reckless.

I had to let him cool down. I had to make him see that I wasn’t just the Omega who had deceived him, but also the mate who had stood by his side for ten years, the one who could even protect him.

So, I chose to retreat-temporarily. Sharing a meal, helping with his bandages, buying his essentials… I used actions, not words, to remind him of the decade of connection and habit between us. When I left, my promise to protect him wasn’t empty talk. Even with the bond broken, my feelings and sense of responsibility toward him were bone-deep.

Chapter 321 Chose to Retreat

Finishest

By the time I left Landon’s apartment, it was late. I had deliberately delayed my return to Kaelis City, leaving a day after Cameron. My flight would be early tomorrow morning.

But being rational was one thing. The emotional floodgates were another.

I didn’t go back to the hotel. I went to find Sofia and got completely wasted at a bar.

Sofia stayed with me, repeating words of comfort that didn’t really help. She called Landon a jerk and Natalie a bitch. I knew she was trying to defend me, but hearing Landon’s name still sent a sharp pang through my chest.

After getting sick in the bathroom, I collapsed on a couch in the private booth, too drained to even lift a finger. The alcohol and emotional exhaustion made everything hazy. Sofia’s voice seemed to come from far

away.

Then, I sensed an unfamiliar yet faintly familiar presence nearby-the powerful, steady aura of a top-tier Alpha.

“Landon,” I murmured in my confused state. Was that him? Had he come back for me? “Please don’t break the bond. I don’t want it to end like this. I really… really don’t…”

Acting on instinct, I lunged forward and wrapped my arms around the warm body in front of me. I buried my face in the crook of his neck, greedily breathing in the scent that brought a strange sense of calm, whispering my pleas.

“Aaliyah! Aaliyah, wake up!” It was Sofia’s voice, urgent.

Then, a large, warm hand began gently patting my back. The motion held an undeniable, soothing authority. It strangely calmed the violent fluctuations of my Omega hormones and the aching throb left by the severed bond.

But I was too exhausted to think. Wrapped in that comforting rhythm and steady presence, my taut nerves finally snapped. My consciousness sank into a deep, dark void.

Cameron’s POV:

When Aaliyah called this morning, saying she had something to handle and would return to Kaelis City separately, I felt something was off.

But it wasn’t my place to interfere in her personal matters.

As it happened, I ended up meeting a friend here in Maritime City unexpectedly, which also changed my planned return. I decided to stay an extra night myself.

I just finished up with the meeting and thought I’d check in with Aaliyah to see how things were on her end. If she’d resolved her issue, maybe we could still travel back together tomorrow.
