Chapter 348 Someone Without Shame
Louisa’s POV:
I pushed past the people trying to hold me back, held my head high, and strode quickly up to Natalic. The security guards still formed a loose circle around us, but the man beside her raised his hand slightly, and they took a half-step back, though their protective stance remained.
“You can say what you need to say right here,” Carmen said coldly.
I ignored him completely. My intense gaze was fixed on Natalie’s face before sweeping over the pretentious man standing beside her.
“Natalie, you certainly have some nerve!” My voice was sharp and shrill, echoing in the open space of the entrance. “Is this your pretty-boy toy? Is he the reason you were so ruthless to Landon, pushing him toward his death? Do you even know that Landon has been sick with worry over you, that he’s made himself sick with grief!”
My voice grew louder and more piercing. My doctor’s orders about avoiding agitation were forgotten. I pointed a trembling finger at Natalie, wishing I could unleash all my fury at once.
“Pretty-boy toy?” Natalie’s voice was quiet, but it carried a cold, firm confidence I’d never heard from her before. “Louisa, mind your language. He is my mate, my lawful husband, witnessed by the Moon Goddess. He is also someone your Thorn Pack absolutely cannot afford to provoke.”
My tirade was cut off by her quiet interruption.
The man was holding her hand tightly, pulling her slightly into his side. The intimate posture only intensified my rage.
Furious, my words tumbled out in a scornful rush. “Your mate? Lawful husband?” I let out a sharp, mocking laugh. “It’s only been a few months since you left Landon! And you already have a mate? Natalie, your bloodline was low, but I never imagined your character could be even baser! I must have been blind before, thinking you were a decent, well-behaved Beta!”
My shaking finger now pointed at the man. “This pretty boy? Someone the Thorn Pack can’t afford to provoke? Natalie, I think you picked up some rogue from an underground fight club, didn’t you? All looks and nothing else. Are you using the money you swindled from Landon to keep him, to dress him up like this? Do you think fancy clothes can hide the inferiority in your bones? Without our Thorn Pack, you are nothing!”
I was past caring, Ladylike composure, family dignity-none of it mattered in the face of this woman who had trampled on my grandson’s heart. I wanted to expose her hypocrisy!
Natalie’s POV:
Each of Louisa’s words was harsh and unpleasant, grating on my cars.
“Have you said enough?” I finally snapped, my patience finally running out. “Landon tricked me into a marriage with his filthy lies. He’s lower and more disgusting than any rogue, let alone worthy of being mentioned in the same breath as my mate! And my mate is not some ‘pretty- boy.’ He is my equal in every way. We’re perfectly matched, deeply in love. He is outstanding, accomplished, wealthy, and morally upright. Your entire Thorn Pack can’t compare to him in the slightest…”
If Louisa had only insulted me, I might have stayed calm. But her every word was an insult to Leonardo, and my anger flared to match hers.
Louisa’s POV:
I hadn’t expected Natalie to dare speak to me like that. I was so shocked I could barely breathe and had to be steadied by one of my guards.
Everyone could insult me if they must. But insult my mate? That was just asking for trouble.
“You’ve gone too far. Do you know who you’re talking to?” Even Carmen couldn’t take it anymore and spoke up sharply.
Louisa said, “I’m talking to someone without shame.”
“You…” Natalie’s chest was heaving. She was genuinely angered by Louisa. I immediately pulled her closer against my side.
“So, in the eyes of the Richardson family, tricking someone into marriage, cheating, using fraud, and wantonly insulting others… all these actions are considered a ‘blessing’ for the other person. Would you like such a ‘blessing’ for yourself?” I asked, my voice slow and deliberate.
I gathered Natalie into my arms gently.
My hand moved up to gently press her head against me, hoping to shield her from the foul words.
Today, with me here, how could I bear to let Natalie handle these wretched people?
Thinking about the life she had endured all these years filled me with both heartache and anger.
The last trace of a smile vanished from my lips. I lifted my gaze and fixed Louisa with a cold stare.
