Chapter 371 Observing Me
Samuel’s POV:
On the way, I made a brief phone call, giving a few quick orders.

The car soon pulled into the underground parking garage of a seven-star hotel. Two werewolf bodyguards, obviously well-trained, spotted my car and immediately approached.
I anticipated Lily would try to bolt the moment she got out, so the two guards promptly flanked her, each taking an arm.
I said in a low voice, “This hotel is in my mother’s name. Screaming won’t help you. I’ve booked
the presidential suite. As long as you stay inside, you can enjoy yourself.”

Lily didn’t struggle pointlessly anymore. She just shot me a fierce glare and stayed silent.
I had her taken to the room under guard, then turned and headed for the private elevator to the rooftop revolving restaurant. Aaliyah’s team should be arriving soon. I adjusted my collar and expression in the elevator mirror, finally putting on a flawless, professional smile before stepping into the private dining room.
Aaliyah and Landon were standing by the room’s floor-to-ceiling window, enjoying the night
view.
The door opened softly.
“Hello, Ms. Cooper, Mr. Richardson. A pleasure to finally meet you.” My voice was steady, carrying the standard blend of warmth and distance for such occasions.
With a wave of my hand, the attendants in the room quietly exited to stand guard outside.
Aaliyah’s POV:
I turned and saw Samuel, a smile reaching my eyes as I stepped forward to shake his hand. “You must be Mr. Samuel Scott, right?” Representing Gallop Energy to meet with someone from the Scott Group, I was a bit nervous.
I had thought the Scott Group might send their mysterious heiress or Alexander’s widow, Penelope.
I’d heard the current acting CEO overseeing the Moon-Shadowed Pack’s corporate interests was the Scott family heiress, but the Scott Group had several high-level managers. One of them was Alexander’s adopted son. The man before me was likely him.
He said, “That’s me. Samuel, Vice President of the Scott Group.”

Landon’s POV:
As Samuel shook Aaliyah’s hand, his gaze briefly flicked toward me.
Hearing his words, many things suddenly became clear. I stepped forward, offering a perfectly measured smile. “Please, Mr. Scott, there’s no Thorn Pack in Maritime City anymore. You really flatter me by calling me Mr. Richardson.” I deliberately struck a humble tone.
I had once believed I’d befriended the Moon-Shadowed Pack heiress. After learning the truth that Natalie was Alexander’s daughter, the scales fell from my eyes. The one who had wanted to invest in the Richardson Group back then was never her. Samuel’s comment now made it all click. The person who wanted to invest was Samuel.
I’d done some homework on the Moon-Shadowed Pack. Alexander’s adopted son took the Scott name after his mother, Penelope, married Alexander. Public records showed Alexander left nearly his entire estate and core pack authority to his biological daughter.
Anyone could see that Samuel and Natalie were unlikely to be on good terms. His investment in the Richardson Group right under Natalie’s nose further proved it.
It was a pity that an adopted son could never compete with a biological daughter. Otherwise, the Richardson Group wouldn’t have collapsed and been liquidated so quickly.
But I’d let it go now, at least on the surface. A little humility wasn’t a bad thing. At least we wouldn’t be kept in the dark, beaten down by unknown forces anymore.
“Don’t lose heart, Mr. Richardson. Times change, fortunes shift. Even the illustrious Moon- Shadowed Pack today might find itself in a different situation a decade from now, don’t you agree?” Samuel offered a shallow comfort before gesturing for us to take our seats.
His words seemed to refer to the Moon-Shadowed Pack, yet also to the rise and fall of all packs.
I looked at Samuel, my expression neutral, and added, “Mr. Scott, is it just the three of us for dinner tonight?”
Samuel’s POV:
“Indeed. We can have a proper celebration tomorrow after the signing,” I replied with a faint smile.
So, Landon already knew Natalie’s identity.
I could tell from the moment I entered that Landon’s gaze differed from Aaliyah’s. Aaliyah looked at me with a collaborator’s delight and assessment. Landon’s eyes held a distinct touch of disappointment.

Knowing full well Natalie wouldn’t let them off, yet still harboring some twisted hope for her? Landon was truly interesting.
I couldn’t be bothered with what Landon was thinking. My task from Penelope was to seal the deal. Once done, I could rest.
And Aaliyah seemed immersed in the joy of a successful partnership, still unaware of the undercurrents.
Landon said no more, and I didn’t press. Aaliyah and I exchanged a few pleasantries, complimented each other’s packs and companies, then began the meal, chatting about inconsequential topics. The atmosphere appeared cordial.
But we were only halfway through dinner when my phone rang. I walked to the window to take the call, then returned.
“What is it? Something wrong?” Landon immediately picked up on the shift, stopping his meal. His mind didn’t seem to be on the food; he’d been observing me.
