Chapter 373 Before Taking Natalie Down
Samuel’s POV:

“How could I possibly know what was on your mind?” The curve of her lips held no warmth, her eyes completely calm. “All I know is that I trusted you. I even ignored Natalie’s warnings to meet with you privately… and this is how you treat me. Should I consider quitting, moving away, vanishing from your sight completely before you’ll let me go?”
I let out a low chuckle. She was good at turning the tables. Clearly, she was the one who deliberately got close, gathering intelligence for Natalie, yet now she was painting herself as the poor victim caught in my games.
I’d met plenty of calculating Omegas and Betas who were experts at pretending, but Lily was the first to blend scheming and sincerity in such a contradictory way.
I lifted her chin, forcing her to look at me. “You want me to let you go?”
“Mr. Scott, it’s late. I need to go inside.” Her tone remained even as she pushed me away turned to get her keys.

I looked down, scuffed the cigarette butts aside with my shoe, and the moment she opened the door, I slipped in right behind her.
She let out a gasp. “You!” It was too late for her to stop me.
I caught her wrist, shut the door with my other hand, and pressed her against it, a confident smile on my face.
“You almost blew my plans today, and you pissed me off. As compensation, I’ll stay here tonight.” It wasn’t a request, but a statement. Then I strode straight toward her small bedroom without even taking off my shoes.
I wasn’t sure why I was doing this. Maybe troubling her, watching her bottled-up emotions and stubborn reactions, was its own kind of amusement. Even though her place was small, old, and smelled of cheap things, strangely, I slept surprisingly well here.
“Mr. Scott, do you have some kind of special preference? If you like staying in ‘poor people’s’ homes so much, why not just rent this place? I’ll go stay at yours. How’s that?” Her voice was laced with suppressed irritation and sarcasm, but she still pulled a pair of disposable slippers from the shoe cabinet and tossed them near my feet.
“Fine by me. But you probably wouldn’t get past the gate at my place.” I settled onto her small,
worn-out sofa.
She didn’t stand on ceremony either, cutting straight to the bargaining. “By your standards, one

night here must be worth at least a thousand dollars, right?”

I didn’t bother arguing. I pulled a card from my inner pocket and tossed it onto the coffee table. “There’s a hundred thousand dollars on it. No password.”
I clearly caught the skip in her heartbeat. She might dislike me, but she didn’t dislike money. Well, using wealth and status to gain advantage was common in werewolf society, even if it didn’t seem to work fully on her.
Sure enough, she took the card without hesitation. “Thank you, Mr. Scott. Next time you want to stay over, I’ll just book a hotel.”
“No need. I sleep better when you’re here,” I said flatly, switching into the slippers and leaning back, finally relaxing.
“But I wouldn’t dare,” Lily said.
“With Natalie backing you, I thought you weren’t afraid of anything?” I teased, turning to pin her with my gaze. “What did you report to Natalie today? And Chloe-she played the hero. Why didn’t she escort you back?”
I wasn’t some fool led by desire alone. Lily wouldn’t have dared to come back unless she’d gotten instructions from Natalie, or the situation had been resolved.
She was sharp; she knew that as long as Natalie remained in the Moon-Shadowed Pack, I couldn’t actually destroy her. Penelope had also warned me not to cause unnecessary complications—especially over trivial emotional entanglements-before taking Natalie down
for good.
Lily looked at me for a moment, then answered plainly, “Why would I tell you what I discussed with Natalie?”
Chloe’s POV:
After work today, I happened to see Lily and Samuel heading to the garage together. Lily worked for Natalie, yet she was getting close to Samuel-that alone seemed off. My curiosity got the better of me, and I couldn’t help but follow them.
That was how I ended up seeing Lily being forced into a room and held by Samuel’s men. After noting the room number and seeing Samuel head to the restaurant, I tried asking at the front desk. But the hotel was owned by the Watson family, and I couldn’t get any
information.
So, I called Liam.
Liam was out of town on a business dinner but was still awake. I briefly explained the situation and gave him the hotel name. One of Liam’s friends oversaw all the major hotels in Maritime City and could contact someone internally. Checking that night’s VIP reservation list was
