Samuel couldn’t stay any longer either. With a cold snort, he turned and walked out angrily. The remaining Gallop Energy representatives exchanged uneasy glances, unsure what to do.

As Samuel walked past Lily, she-whether on purpose or not-looked away from him.

Noticing her dismissive attitude, Samuel walked out and kicked a public trash can nearby.

A cleaner across the way saw it, stood up straight, and stared right at him.

Samuel looked back, meeting her gaze, and laughed bitterly, “Clean it up!”

Half an hour later, two police cars arrived outside the Scott Group building.

Aaliyah was held in the meeting room. The Gallop Energy team also had to stay to help with the investigation.

Before the police arrived, they were outside making calls.

Only Aaliyah and Natalie remained inside.

When Natalie finally emerged, the police had just arrived. She spoke with them briefly before they went in to take Aaliyah away.

Aaliyah’s demeanor was now completely different.

Her eyes were swollen and red. She seemed to have aged five or six years in an instant- haggard and dejected. The fear and anger on her face were gone, replaced by an indescribable bleakness and misery.

Seeing the police, she didn’t resist. Calmly, she stood and walked out. When questioned, she even answered with a faint, empty smile.

Natalie’s POV:

With the matter resolved, I called Leonardo immediately.

I told him I still needed to go to the police station to make a statement, then I’d head home.

After arriving in Maritime City, I’d come straight to the Scott Group.

Leonardo had wanted to come with me, but considering the journey had been tiring, I asked him to rest at home first.

Besides, this was straightforward to handle.

An hour later, I finished my statement at the station. The police informed me that representatives from Gallop Energy would also be coming.

Aaliyah’s case was serious-involving fraud. The process would be complicated and drawn out.

I had no interest in kicking someone when they were down. I just asked the police to follow standard procedure.

But as I was leaving the station, I ran into another familiar face.

It was Landon.

I’d know his silhouette anywhere, even now, looking worn and weary, his posture no longer upright, his hair disheveled.

His Alpha aura was faint and erratic-flickering one moment, fading the next.

Landon’s POV:

I’d waited in the Scott Group lobby for a long time. When I saw police enter the building, I knew something had happened to Aaliyah. Following the crowd, I learned Natalie had also returned to the Scott Group. Not that I was surprised.

Aaliyah had used Natalie’s work to climb up, then flaunted it right in front of the original owner. Of course, Natalie would come.

As for Natalie’s USB drive, I returned it not long after Louisa passed away.

When Anna relayed the message that Natalie wanted her things back, I understood.

Natalie hated the Thorn Pack and caused Grandma’s death.

We were utterly powerless to fight back now. Whether that drive was returned wasn’t up to me

anymore.

But I hadn’t expected Aaliyah to be this foolish.

When she appeared as Gallop Energy’s representative in Maritime City, I knew.
