Soon, Leonardo followed me in. Seeing me at the vanity, he wrapped his arms around me from behind.
His smile was still there when I looked at him in the mirror. “Upset?” he said.
“No. I just don’t want to hear you talk like that,” I mumbled, my voice giving me away.
He smiled, “I know. My Natalie only wants to be with me for a long, long time. I want the same. That’s more important than any wealth in the world.”
With just one gentle sentence, Leonardo lifted the corners of my mouth again.
“Natalie, do you remember what we said during our first official meeting?” he asked.
“I remember,” I replied, a touch of sweet nostalgia in my voice.
Moments with Leonardo always stayed vivid in my mind. I’d never forget our first meeting.
Back then, I thought we’d only have a marriage of convenience between packs.
Leonardo claimed he had no interest in my inheritance; it was all just to appease his family’s
pressure to marry.
Looking back now, he probably said that to put me at ease.
Likewise, Leonardo certainly knew I wouldn’t covet anything from the Silver-Maned Pack.
So, we’d always kept our finances separate.
He gave me a supplementary card to his accounts, but I hardly ever used it.
“Tell me what I said.” Leonardo’s deep voice softened, sending a nice shiver down my spine.
His voice was too pleasing-it always had an Alpha’s strength, yet it was filled with endless tenderness-so charming it made my mind go blank.
“You said…” I blinked playfully, drawing out the words. “You didn’t just need a mate because of pack pressure.
“You are simply very interested in me and wanted an excuse to bond with me.”
I was making it up, but I knew I’d guessed what Leonardo truly felt. Thinking back, even his

No wonder I’d felt nervous during that meal, too. I thought I was just intimidated by Leonardo’s noble air and presence.
Only later, when I saw the real him, did I realize he was also quite inexperienced and cautious about relationships, taking things slow with me.
I even thought a bit smugly-even the strongest Alpha became awkward and shy around someone they truly cared about.
Leonardo’s POV:
1 pulled back a little reluctantly and gave her the real answer. “I said I needed a mate who would listen, who would cooperate fully.”
I watched her slightly dazed eyes in the mirror. What I’d meant back then probably wasn’t what Natalie was thinking now.
It seemed necessary to clarify. “I meant she would listen and cooperate when I wanted to do something for her.”
She hooked her arms around my neck, about to say more, but I took the chance to lift her and carry her to the soft bed.
Warmth flowed back into the air, dispelling the earlier gloom, and the intimate longing between us as mates quietly awakened.
She lifted her head, continuing the kiss. Every moment of intimacy between us was beautifully intoxicating. But tonight, I could feel my stamina wasn’t what it used to be, far from my usual high energy.
A deep tiredness and dull pain welled up inside me, but I pushed them down, focusing on the warmth and joy she brought.
Natalie’s POV:
Late at night, I was held firmly in his arms. His steady breathing was right behind my ear, but a faint, nagging unease lingered in my heart.
“Leonardo,” I finally whispered, my voice clear in the silence, “you’re really… not hiding anything from me, are you? What you said tonight… it made me really uneasy.”
“We agreed-it’s just being prepared, for peace of mind,” Leonardo answered softly. But he didn’t directly answer my question.
I tried to turn and face him, but he tightened his arm, holding me more securely against him.
