Hannah’s gaze was fixed on the diamond jewelry in the photo, her eyes sparkling.
“It’s just so beautiful. How could the Mercer family have so much jewelry? And so valuable, too! This set must be worth a lot, right?”
Bella smiled. “This is nothing. I heard their safe is filled with collector-grade pieces.
The diamond set they gave me is just one of the more ordinary ones.
Don’t worry, all of the Mercer family jewels are meant to be passed down to the daughters-in-law.
Hannah, you just have to work on it. Who knows, one day I might even have to call you my sister-in-law.”
Just looking at the photo of Bella's jewelry set was enough to make Hannah practically drool with envy.
After hearing Bella’s words, her heart began to race.
It made sense. Given the Mercer family's current situation, the jewelry would definitely go to the daughters-in-law.
Lillian had married out of the family, and she was clearly out of favor now, so she wouldn't get any of it.
Of the two Mercer sons, Brandon was the favored one.
If she could successfully marry Brandon, she would become the owner of all those collector's items.
“Bella, you know how it is. Dating is one thing, but marriage is another. With Brandon and me, nothing’s set in stone yet.”
“But if you’re dating, there’s a chance for marriage, isn’t there?”
“That’s true... Well, I guess I should put in some effort.”
Hannah linked her arm with Bella’s. “Bella, you know I’m always on your side in everything. You’ll help me too, right?”
Bella nodded. “Of course. Brandon’s future wife will be my sister-in-law. I’d much rather have someone I know than a stranger. You’re one of us, after all.”
The phrase “one of us” made Hannah’s smile widen.
She became even more dedicated to helping Bella choose her outfit for the evening, preparing two extra options just in case.
After work, Lillian also began to prepare for the launch party.
Leonard had pre-ordered some outfits for her, all high-end, custom-designed pieces.
Given her current status, it wouldn’t be appropriate for her to dress too casually for such an event.
Emma accompanied Lillian. When Lillian emerged, dressed and with her hair and makeup done, Emma was momentarily stunned.
The past few years had been tough for her, and seeing Lillian looking like this stirred a wave of emotion.
“Ms. Mercer, seeing you so radiant, it feels like we’ve gone back in time. You’re so beautiful. With your looks and figure, you really should dress up more often. You’re the face of our company!”
Lillian smiled. “I have to dress up for formal occasions like this. On regular days, I’m just too busy to bother.”
Though the company was still small and Emma had just started, she was already getting a good grasp of the situation.
