That was her mother's jewelry!
Why was Bella wearing her mother's jewelry?
Lillian saw red.
Under normal circumstances, there was no way Bella could have stolen the jewelry herself.
Besides, only her father knew the combination to her mother's safe.
She instinctively stood up, about to walk towards Bella, but Nathan grabbed her arm.
“Li, what are you doing? Everyone's watching. Why are you suddenly so angry?
Don't tell me you still have feelings for Sebastian, and seeing him give jewelry to Bella has set you off?”
Lillian turned to him. “That belongs to my mother. Those are my mother's things.”
Nathan was taken aback. “What? This...”
Bella had already spotted Lillian from across the room. She had deliberately chosen a low-cut dress and worn her hair up high today, all to create a perfect canvas to showcase the diamond necklace.
She wanted people to see it, especially Lillian.
After all, when Brandon gave her the jewelry last night, he had said it was a gift to apologize on Lillian’s behalf.
How could she not let Lillian see such a special gift?
Beside Bella, Hannah couldn't help but sneer. “Bella, Lillian is staring at you. Look at her face, she’s furious. You don't think she’s going to come over and try to snatch your necklace, do you?”
Bella replied, “In front of all these people? If she really tries to grab it, she'll be the one who ends up humiliated, not me. In fact, I kind of hope she does. Heh...”
Bella chuckled as she spoke. It was obvious she was being deliberately provocative.
So many people were watching, most of them the same crowd from yesterday's conference.
Lillian had her moment of triumph yesterday, hadn't she?
Bella wanted to see how Lillian could possibly keep her composure after seeing this.
Nathan clearly saw Bella’s taunting smile from across the room and gritted his teeth.
“What a cunning, scheming woman. Li, there are too many people here right now. If you go confront her, you'll attract a lot of attention. Let's wait until this is over.”
But Lillian couldn't wait.
She was about to go over anyway when Martin and his entourage arrived.
Martin had even brought Sabrina along. Though older, Sabrina was well-preserved, and the evening gown she wore made her look young and beautiful.
She was dressed in a long, black, form-fitting gown, adorned with a full set of high-quality jade jewelry that was particularly eye-catching.
Lillian's eyes turned red with fury. “That's my mother's too! It was her favorite set. That shameless mother-daughter pair, they're so greedy.”
Nathan immediately realized the situation was serious.
Lillian could tolerate the Mercer family bullying her.
But Nathan knew that Lillian's mother had been in a psychiatric hospital for years, and Lillian was especially sensitive about her.
