Lillian couldn't care less what Sebastian was thinking.
Right now, all she cared about was that he was making her late for work.
She had a full schedule, planned down to the minute, every single day.
She had to finish her tasks before clocking out, as she had other arrangements for the evening.
Now, Sebastian had her locked in the car and was acting like he wanted to exercise his 'marital rights' right then and there. Lillian was not pleased.
"Sebastian, I assume you wouldn't want me to go tattling to your father and mother, would you? You still don't have complete control over the Blake family's power. Losing a little more of that influence because of me probably wouldn't be worth it, right?"
Sebastian's body, which had been pressing closer, visibly stiffened.
Clearly, Lillian's words were a potent enough threat.
"Lillian, you're my wife. You're the one who chased me for years, who clung to my side until I finally agreed to marry you.
This marriage is what you begged for.
What is this act you're putting on now?"
Lillian didn't deny it. She had pursued Sebastian relentlessly, determined to marry him.
She shot him a cold look. "I guess I was blind!"
Those five simple words left Sebastian choking with frustration.
But he still didn't move, still didn't unlock the doors.
Just then, someone knocked on the car window from outside. "Mr. Blake, fancy seeing you here."
Sebastian's face soured. This Nathan, was he some kind of plague? Why was he always popping up out of nowhere, like a ghost you can't shake, ruining his plans?
Lillian just stared at Sebastian. He wouldn't want to make a scene; it would be too messy.
Finally, Sebastian unlocked the doors. Without wasting a second, Lillian pushed the door open and got out.
Seeing her, Nathan frowned and asked in a low voice, "Was he giving you a hard time?"
Lillian glanced back at Sebastian's car. "He can't give me a hard time. I'm heading up to work."
She figured that when she didn't return to the office after getting in the car, Ethan must have called Nathan.
Nathan's office was nearby, so he had come over immediately.
If Lillian didn't agree, Sebastian couldn't have a damn thing.
When Nathan used the name 'Li', Sebastian's thoughts suddenly stuttered for a moment, as if something flickered at the edge of his memory. But before he could grasp it, Nathan provoked him again, "Wait a minute. For the past two years, it's been Miss Ward accompanying Mr. Blake everywhere. Does this mean Mr. Blake plans to break your confidante's heart?"
Sebastian really didn't want to talk to Nathan anymore.
And he certainly didn't want to answer that kind of question.
"Since Mr. Cole is so free, why don't we discuss the algorithm collaboration? Your company has a stake in this project, and so far, everything is proceeding quite smoothly.
So, I'd really like to know, knowing the promising future of this project, why is Mr. Cole so reluctant to share the algorithm?"
Nathan replied, "The reason is simple, and I've told you before: I don't have the authority to make that decision. The algorithm isn't mine. I only have the rights to use it. How could I authorize you to use it?"
"But just introducing us to the owner of the algorithm, why is Mr. Cole so resistant to even that? We're practically family. Wouldn't a collaboration be beneficial to you as well?"
Nathan recalled the look on Lillian's face as she got out of the car, a look of utter disgust for Sebastian. A cold smile touched his lips.
"Mr. Blake, how do you know I'm the one unwilling to make the introduction, and not that the owner simply doesn't want to meet you, or has no interest in working with you at all?"
Sebastian's face turned ugly. His mind was already racing, trying to figure out how to kick Nathan out of his car.
