Having thoroughly frustrated Sebastian, Nathan's own mood improved considerably.
The thought that Lillian was something Sebastian desperately wanted but couldn't have made him feel even better.
With that, he proactively opened the car door and got out, granting Sebastian his peace.
Sebastian was fuming, but he had nowhere to vent his anger.
His original intention was simply to check on Lillian's health. He had no idea how their conversation had devolved into such a bitter parting.
Suddenly, as if struck by a thought, Sebastian floored it back to the Blake Group.
The moment he entered his office, he called for the head of the legal department.
The lawyer hurried in, assuming there was a major issue, only for Sebastian to ask, "Those divorce papers I signed last time, what did you do with them?"
The lawyer took a moment to process the question, seemingly surprised that Sebastian was asking about it now.
He hadn't shown any interest in the matter for a long time.
However, the lawyer was sharp. "As you instructed, Mr. Blake, it has been processed."
Sebastian froze. What did he mean, processed?
"Processed what?"
"The divorce proceedings have been completed. The decree has been issued. You don't need to worry, Mr. Blake, the entire process was handled confidentially.
No one in the public will be able to check your marital status."
At this, Sebastian shot up from his chair, slamming his hand on the desk.
"You're telling me I'm divorced?"
"But isn't that what you personally ordered, Mr. Blake?" the lawyer asked.
Sebastian clutched his forehead. "When did I ever order something like that? When did I tell you to file for divorce?"
The lawyer looked at Sebastian with an aggrieved expression, trying to jog his memory that he had, in fact, said so.
When the lawyer presented the divorce decree, Sebastian was utterly stunned.
How could he and Lillian no longer be husband and wife? Did this make any sense?
"How can this be reversed?"
The lawyer could only express his regrets. "Mr. Blake, you could get married again."
Get married again?
Given the current state of his relationship with Lillian, how could they possibly remarry?
If Lillian found out they were already divorced, she would have even more reason to live her life as a carefree single woman.
He was clearly dissatisfied with this answer. "Find a way to nullify the divorce," he commanded. "And this matter is to be kept strictly confidential."
The lawyer nodded. "I will do my best, Mr. Blake. As for the confidentiality, you can rest assured. To this day, there has been no news of your divorce in the outside world."
After he left, the lawyer sent out a text message.
The number of people who knew about Sebastian and Lillian's divorce had just increased by one: Sebastian himself.
