Family on Their Knees Heart Turned to Ice novel Chapter 146

"Mom, you don't have to tell me all that. I know," Bella said. "Don't worry, I understand what needs to be done and how to do it.

You just focus on getting ready for your wedding of the century with Mr. Mercer.

Isn't this the wedding you've waited half your life for?"

Yes, Sabrina had indeed waited half a lifetime for the legitimate title of Mrs. Mercer.

Now, it felt like her dream was finally coming true.

On the eve of Martin and Sabrina's wedding, Lillian stayed late at the office, a rare occurrence for her.

Perhaps it was the demanding workload, but as she was leaving, a soft glow still emanated from her office.

Tyler Grant, adjusting his glasses and holding a cup of coffee, happened to run into her. "Leaving for the day, Ms. Mercer?" he greeted.

Lillian normally didn't work overtime, but most of the IT department staff did.

It wasn't that they were incapable of finishing their tasks during work hours. Rather, as a startup, the company offered incentive bonuses to its veteran employees, so they often volunteered to work late to create more value for themselves.

"Drink less coffee so late at night. Go home early," Lillian advised.

"Thanks for the concern, Ms. Mercer," Tyler said. "It's still early, only nine. Don't worry, I'll make sure everyone is out of here before eleven."

Lillian smiled. "You're all young, but health is important. Everyone, please take care of yourselves. I had Emma order some late-night snacks for you all. Eat up and then head home early."

The department was still relatively small, and after working together for a while, everyone had grown familiar with each other.

Lillian looked Victor up and down, inwardly scoffing at his taste and habits. "Do you really need to go back to the hotel for that?"

An outsider seeing Victor for a month straight might think he never changed his clothes.

In reality, the man's closet was filled with dozens, if not hundreds, of identical outfits. He changed daily, but his clothes were all exactly the same.

Lillian was still shocked that someone could be so stereotypically nerdy.

But after being around him for a while, she had gotten used to it.

Suddenly, Victor exclaimed, slapping his forehead. "Oh, crap! I think I saw your computer was still on when I passed by your office."

Lillian just smiled faintly. "You must have been seeing things."
