Lillian had the foresight to know that a clueless guy like Victor wouldn't have the first idea how to dress himself. When she had clothes sent to his hotel that morning, she also sent along a styling team.
After they worked their magic on Victor's long, unruly hair, the result was nothing short of a miracle.
It certainly added a whole new level of polish to his handsome face.
However, as the car door opened and she watched Victor's clumsy way of getting in, Lillian couldn't help but shake her head.
She had to remind herself that turning a completely style-deaf guy into this was already a massive achievement. Asking for anything more would be pushing her luck.
As soon as he got in the car, Victor asked, "Hey, boss, you never mentioned this kind of work was part of the job description when you hired me. You know social events aren't exactly my strong suit."
When Victor had first received Lillian's call, his initial reaction was to refuse. After all, he had zero experience attending these kinds of functions, especially with someone like Lillian.
He knew she came from a wealthy family; her every move and the effortless elegance she carried herself with were a world away from a rough-around-the-edges guy like him.
But then Lillian had switched to her 'boss' voice and given him a direct order, leaving him no room to refuse.
So there he was, forced to just grin and bear it.
After he buckled his seatbelt, Lillian looked at him and said, "Don't be nervous. This isn't a social event, it's a battle. With your years of experience taking down every so-called master in the field, today, you're on home turf."
At that, Victor's eyes immediately lit up.
"What? A battle? And you want me to go into a fight dressed like this? Isn't that kind of an insult to the suit?"
Lillian smirked. "Think of it as cosplay. The handsome brute in a suit. Use your imagination, man. It fits you. Would I ever steer you wrong?"
