"He didn't make you drive all the way out here in the middle of the night just to torture you. The company supports thousands of families; it doesn't just belong to one person. We have to be incredibly cautious."
Old Mrs. Blake's gentle reasoning completely defused any lingering resentment Sebastian had.
There were so many moments when he wished she was his real mother.
But he wasn't lucky enough to be born from her.
Sebastian simply nodded. "I understand, Mom. I'm not upset with Dad."
Old Mrs. Blake offered a small smile. "Sebastian, how is Sabrina's situation looking right now?"
"Bella is receiving treatment at our hospital. I secured her medical files and test results first thing this morning.
"Her cancer hasn't progressed anywhere near the point where a mastectomy was medically necessary. She opted for the aggressive surgery purely out of paranoia that it would spread, entirely rejecting conservative treatments.
"Maybe part of it was genuine fear of the disease.
"But it's obvious she's also using this as a calculated PR move to destroy me.
"At the end of the day, it's all about the divorce trial. She wants to secure the high ground, play the absolute victim, and manipulate the judge's sympathy to extort me for a massive payout."
Old Mr. Blake couldn't hold his tongue any longer. "Who told you to marry her in the first place? If you were so desperate to marry her, why aren't you growing old together?!"
Sebastian rolled his eyes internally but maintained a respectful facade.
"Dad, you never intended for us to actually finish our vows at the wedding, did you?"
"She tried to scheme against me!" Old Mr. Blake sneered. "Did you really expect me to bless the union?!
"You picked her! Did we try to stop you? We begged you not to marry her, to stay far away from her! Did you listen?!
