Family on Their Knees Heart Turned to Ice novel Chapter 210

Martin pointed at Brandon, his body trembling with rage.

“You... you... you rebellious son!”

In the past, Martin had always called Lillian a disgraceful daughter. Now, he was calling Brandon a rebellious son.

But this rebellious son wasn't backing down an inch. It seemed he was willing to wear the label as long as it meant not conceding on the issue of the shares.

Inside the office, the argument between the father and his sons raged on. Outside the chairman’s office, a crowd of employees had gathered to eavesdrop.

The soundproofing wasn't perfect, and snippets of the fight could be heard. For the rank-and-file employees, this kind of high-society gossip was a welcome diversion, one of the few perks of the daily grind.

The crowd only scattered when Brandon stormed out of the office, his face a mask of fury.

Colin hurried after him. Once they were inside Brandon’s CEO office, the two brothers began to strategize.

“Brandon, this is... Dad just gave the shares to outsiders?

And what if—just what if—he actually gets what he wished for and has a late-in-life child?

What happens to the shares then?

Lillian’s shares were already the biggest portion, and now they all belong to Sabrina and Bella.

If Sabrina has a son, he’ll be our brother, and Dad will definitely give him shares. What if the three of them end up with more shares than us?

They could take control of the company! What will we do then?”

Colin’s question was the very thing currently tormenting Brandon.

“What do we do? If I knew what to do, I’d be doing it right now!

The old man has really lost his mind. The older he gets, the more foolish his decisions become.

How could he give so many shares to Bella?

And to his second wife?

If I had known he’d pull a stunt like this, I never would have supported their relationship in the first place.

I should have sided with Lillian and fought him to the bitter end. Forget marriage; they could have had their secret affair forever. At least then he couldn’t have justifiably given away the shares.”

“Brandon, it’s too late for that now,” Colin said. “We need to call a lawyer. Let’s see if there’s anything we can do.

By the way, does Lillian know about this?

Those were her shares. If she finds out Dad just carved them up like that, she’ll be furious, right?”

“She’s the one who told me,” Brandon admitted. “It was her shares that were moved, so she got the notification.

She had always seen how well Brandon and Colin treated Bella, almost like she was their real sister, even closer than Lillian was to them. But it turned out that when it came to money and self-interest, everyone was brutally realistic.

Clearly, if it weren’t for their own interests, Lillian would never have gotten to see such a good show.

She used to think her two brothers were chauvinistic and cruel enough to her. She thought they had given all their love to Bella.

But now she realized that her brothers were so selfish, they were likely incapable of real love. They were both shrewd, each with their own selfish calculations running in their minds.

The doctor walked over to her table. “Ms. Mercer, how much longer are you planning to stay out? It’s time to go home. For the week that Mr. Prescott is away, I’m responsible for you, and I can’t allow any mishaps.”

Lillian smiled. “Alright, let’s go home.”

She decided not to go to the office. A quick call to Victor would suffice.

Brandon was clearly overwhelmed at the moment and wouldn’t have the energy to harass her at work anymore.

Victor and the team could finally get back to work in peace.

After returning home, Lillian called Emma to catch up on company matters. She hadn’t been to the office at all. The week away had caused her to lose a noticeable amount of weight, and she didn’t want anyone to see her looking so frail, so she stayed home to rest.

She had met with Brandon, her own brother, yet he hadn’t noticed her fatigue or her weight loss from beginning to end.

It was, she had to admit, a little heartbreaking.
