He had agreed to the marriage, but the date could still be postponed.
He wouldn’t cancel it, but he could delay it.
“Don’t worry, Martin. Our plans won’t be affected by anything. The wedding will go on as scheduled.”
When she heard that, Bella was stunned.
It was so far beyond what she knew of Sebastian. He had never been the type to stand by someone through thick and thin. Lillian had been by his side when he was a nobody, grinding away in the trenches long before the fame and fortune. But in the end, because Lillian wasn't resourceful enough, didn't he just discard her without a second thought?
Because of that, Bella never believed Sebastian would be the one to choose her, steadfast and unwavering.
His words felt unreal. And it was that very feeling of unreality that made her even more cautious.
“Sebastian, are you serious?”
Sebastian replied, “Of course, Bella. Get some rest. You’re also managing the wedding preparations. Don’t wear yourself out.”
Martin finally breathed a sigh of relief. His biggest worry was gone. He rushed to shower Sebastian with thanks over the phone. “Sebastian, I knew I wasn't wrong about you. Thank you for being so understanding of our family. The Mercer Group’s situation is truly grim right now, and we might need your help again in the future.”
“Don’t worry, Martin,” Sebastian said.
After the call ended, Martin turned his gaze to Sabrina.
Sabrina had been trying to think of a way out of it. She really didn’t want to make a public apology. She had won so many times, only to lose once and be crushed by Lillian to this extent. A public apology felt like a death sentence.
The public relations department immediately got to work, drafting countless versions of the statement for the father and sons to review. The entire office pulled an all-nighter; almost no one slept.
The next morning, the Mercer Group announced that Sabrina would issue a live public apology to Lillian at 9:30 AM.
When Lillian saw the news that morning, she let out a cold laugh. “An apology? They’ve run out of tricks.”
Leonard knew this was the Mercer family’s only remaining move. But he had no intention of letting the people who hurt and bullied Lillian off so easily.
After reading the news, he shot a look at Ethan.
Ethan gave a slight nod, indicating he understood.
