Family on Their Knees Heart Turned to Ice novel Chapter 671

Leonard inspected the painting, and after confirming there were no issues, he put it away.

Lillian’s fingers, however, gently traced the small, chipped corner of the antique jewelry box.

"It’s exactly the same as before. I'm so glad I got it back. It would have been such a shame to lose it."

Leonard said, "It's good that you got it back. But why did you suddenly decide to reclaim the entire marital assets from the Blake family?"

Lillian explained, "I only wanted to get back a specific part of it. Within that portion are some priceless, irreplaceable items. If I had only asked for that, I was afraid Bella would cause trouble or Sebastian would get greedy and refuse. It was better to demand everything, return the Mercer family’s portion to them, and only take what my grandmother and mother gave me. The most important things are what my mother prepared for me. Most of it consists of heirlooms from my mother's side of the family, and they are all incredibly precious. Sebastian doesn't deserve to have them."

"Alright," Leonard said. "I'll have Ethan accompany you on Saturday."

Lillian smiled and nodded. "Is that a good idea? I already take up so much of his time with company matters. For personal things like this, maybe I should bring Mr. Clarke? He's better suited to help me inventory everything."

Leonard thought her point was valid. "Good idea. He's also a great choice."

Lillian stroked the antique jewelry box. This was perfect. She could also ask him to help investigate who the inside man was—someone with enough nerve to steal the item and sell it.

However, Bella had no idea that Sebastian had no intention of ever giving these things to her. After all, it was his money, and he no longer wanted to marry her that badly. These items had cost him a fortune. Even if he was forced to marry her, letting her use them would be the absolute limit. Giving her complete control over them? She wasn't worthy of that honor. At the end of the day, Bella didn't have the status to deserve such fine things.

Oblivious to Sebastian's thoughts, Bella was still quite happy.

After the items were locked away in Sebastian's safe, Bella took a taxi back to her hotel. As she stood at the entrance, her thoughts drifted to the male model. The feral, uninhibited heat she’d found in Lucas’s arms had left a mark on her—a cravings she couldn't quite shake. However, attending the auction today had made her realize that only Sebastian could give her what she truly wanted. A man like Lucas could never provide that in his lifetime. Seeing him again would only cheapen her.

And so, Bella switched hotels that very night. She was unaware that as she did, a pair of eyes was watching her from the shadows.
