Family on Their Knees Heart Turned to Ice novel Chapter 95

The old Blake couple were both exceptionally shrewd.

Decades of tacit understanding allowed them to communicate volumes with a single glance.

If their knowledge of Lillian was this shallow, then what about Sebastian?

How much did he really know about her?

He spent all his time orbiting that Bella. Was she truly more valuable than Lillian?

Old Mr. Blake had always trusted his judgment, and now, seeing the caliber of people in Lillian's network, he was more certain than ever that his daughter-in-law was no ordinary woman.

Who was Thomas Avery?

Countless people in the industry vied to become his student.

His selection process was notoriously stringent and demanding.

Very few ever succeeded in becoming his students.

Yet, Lillian had not only met his exacting standards but had also earned the title of 'disciple' from him.

That was a term reserved for a true protégé.

If the crowd dining outside knew of Lillian's relationship with Thomas Avery, her path in this industry would become significantly smoother.

But as far as they knew, Lillian had never used Thomas Avery's name to her advantage, nor had she ever mentioned that she was the Blake family's daughter-in-law.

She was building everything on her own merits.

Old Mr. Blake had navigated the business world his entire life, and his insight had always been impeccable.

A person like Lillian was destined for greatness.

Having such a matriarch would be a blessing for the Blake family.

Both he and his wife were determined to keep her.

For Sebastian's sake, and for the future of the Blake family.

Old Mr. Blake smiled, making his stance clear. "My wife and I both support Lillian's venture. We are ready to lend a hand at any time. Forget stumbling blocks; if a tiger blocks her path, I still have enough strength to help her fight it."

The Blake family had made their position clear. If Sebastian tried anything, they would not stand for it.

Lillian was surprised. Many people had been skeptical about her startup.

Yet, here in this small room, the industry titans were all lining up to back her.

Although the Montrose family hadn't spoken, Lillian's keen observation told her that despite being older, they seemed to have a unique relationship with the Prescotts.

It was almost as if they deferred to them.

Since Leonard was her partner, she figured the Montrose family would show her some courtesy as well.

Lillian glanced at the wine glass in front of her but picked up her juice instead. "Thank you for your kindness.

But for now, please let me try to figure things out on my own."

With that, Lillian drank the juice as if it were wine.

Now, she's an overnight sensation.

All because of a childish gaming habit that she's now parading around.

Let's see how she's going to handle the fallout."

Martin finished his sentence and downed his glass of wine, but his anger only intensified.

Brandon added, "Dad, do you think it was Old Mr. Blake who invited her into that room? It seems he still values her quite a bit."

Martin Mercer scoffed. "That's only because she's Noah's mother. What other reason could there be?

Do you really think people like the Blake elders would approve of her behavior? If it weren't for the Mercer family's standing back in the day, would the Blakes have even agreed to the marriage?"

Brandon found this logic sound.

After all, in their eyes, Lillian was inferior to Bella in every way.

Besides the child, there was no other reason for the Blake elders to favor her.

Especially now that the Mercer family was no longer as powerful as it once was and had to rely on its partnership with Sebastian to stay afloat.

"Keep an eye out for her later. When she comes out, tell her I need to speak with her.

She has to personally apologize to Bella for what happened today."

Brandon agreed. "Don't worry, Dad. I know what to do."

Lillian had no idea that her father and brother were already planning which of her mother's jewels they would make her use to apologize to Bella.
