Kael.
I woke up to the worst kind of banging headache hammering at the back of my skull that anyone could ever imagine, but on the brighter side, it felt as though I’d just had the most restful sleep of my life.
I felt insanely energized. Light. My wolf was alert, and even my previously aching body no longer hurt so badly; And to top all of that, Leilani’s smell was everywhere. And I mean E.V.E.R.Y.W.H.E.R.E.
She was in my head. In the sheets. On my pillow... even on my shirt—
Wait, that’s not my shirt!
My eyes widened as I quickly sat up, and due to how fast my actions had been, my vision swarmed for a nanosecond before everything slowly came into focus.
I frowned when the sudden realization that I was not in my room dawned on me. Goddess, I was not even in my house! My shoes were off and I was wearing a strange shirt that smelled too much like Leilani.
What the actual fuck?
Confused, I flung the bed covers off my body but just as I stood up, images from the previous night came flooding into my mind and a sudden heat crept up my face when I remembered the kiss that Leilani and I had shared.
I couldn’t remember what most of our conversation had entailed but I could remember the kiss, and right now, it replayed itself over and over again in my head like a video on loop.
Warmth flared on my cheeks and a sense of embarrassment flooded my veins when I realized that I, Kael Stormborn, was blushing.
A whole me.
A reputable Alpha, blushing at the thought of Leilani.
How the fuck is that even possible?
I glanced around the room quickly, looking for my shirt and when I still couldn’t find it, I frowned. Gosh, I couldn’t leave this room like this. Even the Heavens knew that I couldn’t face her like this... that I couldn’t leave this room and allow her see me in this shirt that was obviously hers.
A small voice at the back of my skull tried to remind me that she must’ve been the one to dress me up, but even though I already knew this, I still did not budge.
And the stupid heat burning my cheeks wouldn’t stop
I groaned. "I need to get out of here! This girl is in my head... I need to—"
I stopped ranting when I noticed a small piece of paper by the bedstand table. It was held onto the table by a bottle of sparkling water, and beside it was a bottle of pain killers.
I paused, my eyes widening in surprise. "She left me drugs?"
Slowly, I walked up to the table as if half expecting it to explode, and after picking up the note and placing the bottle of water back onto the table, I read it in silence. It said;
"By the time you wake up, I’ll be at work, so I’m leaving these instructions for you for easy navigation around the house. Your shirt’s downstairs in the laundry— which is the first door to your left after the kitchen. It reeked, so I had to change you into something cleaner.
There’s a bottle of pain killers for your hangover and your shoes are also downstairs by the door. I made you breakfast. It’s at the table.
Ps: leave as soon as you’ve eaten, and if you decide not to eat, that’s just fine as well."
I froze.
Of everything I’d expected to find, this was the last thing I would’ve thought of.
Now knowing that she wasn’t in the house anymore, I easily slipped out of the room and went downstairs where surprisingly, everything was just as she’d explained in the note.
I usually skipped breakfasts most of the time, but for some reason, I was compelled to eat the one she’d made for me simply because it was made by her. So with this thought, I walked over to the dining table, opened the bowls of covered food and gasped when I was met with a mouthwatering platter.
