Fated To Three Betrayed By All Until She Rose (Leilani) by Ahvahh novel Chapter 226

226 Moonveil Draught.

Leilani.

Two days later, I was hit with the weirdest most pleasant, but craziest news there is:

Gavin proposed!

To Maya!

And for the first few minutes after hearing that news, all I felt was betrayal.

Now, this may sound selfish but I felt like she had betrayed me by saying yes to him. That she had overlooked past all his wrongdoings and everything in between simply because of some mate bond between them.

That was what I felt before I was hit with a crazy amount of happiness so strong I felt myself levitating from it.

Maya was gettin

married!

My hands shook as I held the white golden rimmed invitation card in hand while I grinned from ear to ear like I was the one getting married.

Her hands wrapped ar

my waist tightened as she buried her face into the crook of my neck, and with a breathy sigh said; “I’m sorry it came as a shock to you!”

“Everything you do

do comes as a shock to me!” I answered with a smile, not missing the way the corners of my eyes brimmed with unshed tears.

Maya noticed this too as she leaned close to wipe them off my face and with a smile whispered; “I’m sorry.”

“Congratulations.” I answered softly, and I meant it.

I meant it so much and even the heavens knew that.

I meant it because I liked the way the corners of her eyes crinkled with laughter. I liked the warmth that emanated from her body, filling me with a kind of serenity that I loved. I also liked the way her hands around my waist tightened, squeezing me so tightly, I feared I would dissolve into her bones…

She sighed dreamily. “Thank you.”

“I can almost feel your love for him, and I am sorry I almost made everything about me and tried to come between you two.”

While I spoke, she only smiled, and occasionally she would nod here and there only to hug me tighter and tighter… and-

“I’m glad I can now be a part of your family even though I probably do not like the rest of the said family.” She hissed into my ear, earning herself a heartfelt smile from me.

However, I had just smiled at that when suddenly a thought struck me, and it was the fact that she doesn’t know how I wasn’t really a member of the Blackthorne’s family yet.

She’d been so preoccupied and I caught in my own web of family drama and lies that we haven’t really gotten the chance to talk as much as we should, so I sighed and took a step back while shimmying out of her hold before sinking into one of her sofas.

“There’s something you do not know about,” I said in a small voice, “…there are things I haven’t told you about.”

Maybe it was the tone of my voice or something else but she slowly sank into the sofa close to mine, pulled her knees to her chest and rested her chin atop them to stare pointedly at me, her beautiful eyes drilling holes into my skull as she drawled; “Why are you scaring me?”

And at first, I blanched. My hands on my knees froze for a nanosecond before I dropped my head quickly, suddenly feeling afraid that she may not take the news so lightly. I also feared for Gavin’s reaction when he hears about it; and with this fear clawing its way up my chest, I said;

“Promise me, you won’t tell Gavin about it until I ask you to.”

She stopped to glance at me then I didn’t miss the way her eyes darted to the door behind me.

“Yes”

“Yes isn’t a promise.” I pressed on, still not missing the way it felt like she was hiding something from me; But deciding not to dwell on it further, I took a deep breath and sighed;

“I’m not a Blackthorne.”

She laughed. Like really laughed. And the sound of it made me want to squeeze her neck so hard until it hurt. It made me want to pull out my hair because I knew that she wasn’t taking me seriously… that she wouldnt take me seriously.

I pinched at the bridge of my nose- mostly from frustration than annoyance- and then I continued; “I’m not joking.”

“I know you aren’t,” she answered quickly- too quickly. “I know that you

tell everyone that you’re not a Blackthorne but a Sinclair-which is a name you’d formed from the top of your head…”

“No, Maya. I’m really not a Blackthorne!” I snapped this time, interrupting her.

Her eyes widened as she turned to face me then, a flicker of something fleeting past her gaze before it slowly disappeared. “You don’t mean that, do you?” She asked and I couldn’t help but feel my heart plummet into some pit in my guts.

I shook my head. “I do. I had a DNA Test conducted on my siblings and I… including Gavin and after the results came out, it was discovered that I am not a member of the family. Moreover, my mother confessed to cheating on Mr Blackthorne.”

At my words, she froze, her eyes widening in shock and something else… something that looked too much like apprehension. “With who?” She asked, her tone gravely.

But I knew then and there that I couldn’t bring myself to respond to that question. That there were some things best left unsaid.

Because tell me how I could possibly tell her about my Lycan heritage?

How could I explain to her that I was that thing that couldn’t be named?

My bottom lip is trembled as I roved my eyes along her body and with the tiniest bravest voice I could muster, I whispered; “I can’t tell you.”

“Please…”

“I really can’t.”

“Leilani, I already feel so lost as it is… and only

The heavens know how badly Gavin will take the news.” She voiced out an I could only lower my eyes in slight panic, shaking slightly as I said;

“I really don’t know who my biological fathers… but my mother, Maurice Blackthorne, confessed that he was her true mate and that I am only twins with Chalice due to some shit known as heteropaternal…”

“…Superfecundation.” She finished in a small voice.

“Yes, that.” I answered,

However, before she could say something more, I smelled a distinct yet familiar scent, and immediately I did, my senses soon went into overdrive.

I rose from the sofa I was sitting on and turned to the door, my breath coming in fast

gasps as I came face to face with Gavin who for some reason had the stoniest iciest expression on his face.

He slurred; “What did you just say, Lani?” He asked, sounding so cold, it sent shivers running down my spine.

I do not know if I hated how he’d used my nickname, all I knew was that my body shook with panic. Or was that even panic? I don’t know.

All I knew was that my limbs trembled and that I feared for his reaction, seeing as he looked so hurt, one would think he was in a physical pain.

“Leilani, talk to me…” he drawled slowly, coming to grab my shoulders but in a way that his hold didn’t feel too hard.

I sighed, hating myself for being

said; “I’m not a Blackthorne.”

fg Hair One to break the news to him like this. And then I

“I heard that… I know. But I don’

understand how.”

The sound of his voice and the pain behind each word made me feel some type of way. Without thinking, I grabbed his wrist too as if that could stop him from falling… it did.

I said; “Mother confessed to having an affair with a man named Ragnar, and that’s how I came into the picture. She and father always knew that I was not one of you, hence…”

“The reason they treated you like shit.” He finished, his voice breaking so bad it brought tears to my eyes.

“They’ve also been suppressing my wolf using suppressants and…”

“It isn’t a suppressant in the way you think.” He answered coldly- too coldly. “…it is wolfbane and silver… and an elixir known as moonveil draught.”

As soon as I heard those words, I froze. Even my arm wrapped around my chest clenched tighter until I was squeezing at myself so hard I could barely breathe.

“How do you know that?” The words slipped out of my mouth before I could stop it, and my anger only peaked when he drew in a sharp breath, his body shaking slightly as he explained;

“Because I did some of the deliveries.” He said and when the words still didn’t click at the back of my skull, he continued; “I was tasked with delivering it to you by putting bits of it into your food.”

As soon as I heard that, the room descended into silence.
