Fated To Three Betrayed By All Until She Rose (Leilani) by Ahvahh novel Chapter 227

227 Your mates.

Leilani.

“Father made me do it! Moreover, I never knew it would hurt you, they said it was meant to provoke your dead wolf into rearing its head!” Gavin screamed out desperately, his hands shaking as he tried to hold on to me.

But despite his explanation, the feeling of betrayal still lingered. It coiled tight within me, twisting at my guts until all that was left was an overwhelming desire to be away

from him.

And even though I was mad, mad beyond reasoning, something still hammered at the back of my mind, and this is the fact that I now had the name of the substances that’s been used to hinder my full shift.

That and the fact that I could easily look up the possible antidotes for it.

“Leilani… please…” his voice came again, and this time, I turned away and frowned, hating the way my heart hammered against my chest, and the way for some reason, I couldn’t bring myself to hate him.

Never.

Not after learning the truth. Not after knowing how he was also not in the know about

the entire situation.

I glanced up at Gavin who was still staring down at me with a look of regret, his lashes downcast while he bit continuously on his lower lips.

I struggled with the right words to say to him but upon reminding myself that he was young and probably didn’t know what he was doing by helping out with our parents’ evil schemes, I heaved out a deep sigh and muttered; my voice cold and detached as I said; “It’s okay.”

But who was I fooling?

How could it ever just be okay?

How could I recover from knowing that my entire family had been against me more than I even realized at first?

His hands balled into fists as he dropped his head even lower and with the quietest voice I’ve ever heard on him, he asked; “How can I ever make it up to you?”

“I don’t want you to.”

“Lani please…” he drawled, his voice trailing off as it suddenly broke, making me fear that he was more affected by all of these than I even was.

“I never knew that they were suppressing your wolf. I never even knew that they did all of that to you due to their selfish reasons. I know I never liked you much but I wanted you to have a wolf… and that’s why I fell for those lies:”

“It’s fine.” I answered coldly,

“Is it really?”

“Yes it is,” I replied, then picking up my purse I added; “…I think I should take my leave

now.”

At that, he paused to stare pointedly at me, his eyes darting from my face to my now slightly trembling hands. I tried so hard to not look at him until I felt warm hands in mine, weaving its way into mine.

I flinched and withdrew my hands quickly, a gasp escaping my lips when my eyes met a stunned Maya’s face. –

She muttered slowly; “You don’t want me to touch yo-”

But I was still too stunned to respond. However when I finally did after she asked that same question one more time, my response was detached. I seethed; “You don’t expect me not to flinch after everything.”

“But-”

“Maya, it’s not about you right now!” I snapped, my voice rising a few octaves. And even though I realized how harsh my tone was, and how much it was affecting Maya, I seemed not to care as I picked up my discarded shawl and began to walk out of the house, not sparing another glance back at the two people who for some reason had gotten too deep under my skin.

However, I had just gotten to the door when Gavin suddenly called out to me again. He asked sharply; “What can I do to make you feel better?”

I turned back briefly and shook my head. “Stay away from me.”

“Lani please… I mean it!” He continued, not backing down. “I want to right my wrongs. I’ve told you that before and I mean it so much. So please.”

I wanted to dismiss him. Goddess how much wanted to turn around and walk away, not to return until I felt better about them. But I was long past the stage of trying to play nice. I was done talking to them either, so I called over my shoulder, my voice cold

but not meaning my words as I spat;

“Find me the antidote!”

“An antidote for what?”

“For the drugs your parents made you feed me! The Moonveil draught or drought or whatever it is called!” I snapped and with that, walked out, feeling my heart hammer against my chest like a caged animal… and wondering if by any chance he would take my words seriously.

Well, I couldn’t say. This was Gavin afterall.

When I arrived at my house and stepped out chaos happening outside my house.

of my car, the first thing I noticed was the

And the way my security guard was pressed down onto a stony porch with his face pressed against the cold floor and his arms pinned behind his back.

Behind him, a young girl stood tall with one arm on the back of his neck while the other pinned him down.

And now, you may say that it is an unusual sight right?

RIGHT?

Well that was exactly what I thought until I saw the person leaning against the wall behind her who looked so chill with one hand behind his head and the other wrapped around a piece of cigarette like one of those men straight out of a mafia romance book.

He took a long drag of his cigarette when he saw me approaching and with a smile, he waved- too excitedly- his voice soft and airy as he called out;

“Leilani!”

It was Darius.

Almighty fucking Darius!

As soon as I saw him, my face fell. The hand clutching my purse tightened even more and bloody hades, a chilly kind of sensation immediately rushed down my spine, filling me with a kind of dread that scared me but made me curious.

I stopped in my strides and folded my arms across my chest- mostly because of the weird chill emanating from him- and greeted; “Darius.”

“Hi.” He smiled again, and I almost- scratch that- I rolled my eyes when he produced a piece of rose flower from his pant pocket and tried handing it to me.

I refused to take it. “What are you doing here And why are you attacking my security guard?” I asked coldly instead, avoiding his glare.

His eyes roved my body amusingly, glinting with a light that I found both strange and terrifying and then he turned away to glance at ‘Jack’ before shrugging; “Nothing. He attacked us first.”

“But I didn’t—” Jack began to say but stopped as he soon began to cough violently, his shoulders shaking so badly, I feared they were on the verge of falling off.

And that there was more than enough reason for me to know that Darius was lying, or joking. One cannot know what exactly it is with him.

“I am joking.” He drawled suddenly, and for a minute, I was stunned into silence until I remembered that he could hear ‘some’ of my thoughts.

I sighed.

“Can you get out of my head and tell me why you’re here?”

And I don’t know. Maybe it was due to how tired I was from last night or due to something else but I realized that I wasn’t so afraid of him. I also knew that I could talk to him this way without getting hurt or punished for it.

Or maybe it was just my ego speaking…

He smirked. “I know you were attacked two nights ago. Or was it three?” He asked, turning to the girl who immediately turned to him and shook her head.

“Three nights ago.”

“Yeah, thank you Samantha. I heard that you were attacked three nights ago…”

“By your people.” I finished, interrupting him. “Are you here to check if they finished off the job or not?”

At my words, his smirk grew but not in the sweet soft way it used to. Now, it was dark and menacing. He hissed; “If I wanted you dead, you’d be dead since your last

birthday.”

I gasped.

“But I don’t want you dead because I see no reason for that,” he continued, “however, I know you wouldn’t believe me so I’ll tell you this just once…”

12:30

“Tell me what?” I snapped again so quickly before realising that I had interrupted him again.

He didn’t seem affected by it.

He spat; “Those Lycans that attacked you three days ago were paid by a wolf to do that…”

“Huh?” I spat, my brows furrowing in confusion. And this time, when I tried to ascertain if he was lying to me or not, I couldn’t be sure as he seemed so serious. So

stern.

I asked; “Who paid them?”

“Your mates paid them.”
