We all had literally zero idea what the so-called trap was, and I most of all, didn’t know why I suddenly had so much hopes in Darius’s genius plan— which I think is a stupid thing to do.

My eyes darted across the room, once again settling on Lani’s ashen face and in order not to make any sound, I whispered through the bond; "Does any of you know what he plans to do?"

"He’s been looking at your eyes and lips for all of eternity. I almost thought he’d whispered it into your ears with his voodoo shit!" Caelum clapped back and I rolled my eyes.

Sometimes, just like now, I cannot help but wonder where he gets his sassiness from, and I find it annoying especially in times like this.

I frowned when my eyes met his from across the room especially when he wriggled his eyebrows at me and continued; "Anyways, I do not know what his almighty plan is but I have little faith in it."

But I couldn’t say the same for myself. I was however about to say that when suddenly—

"I will try disrupting the spell on her," Darius’ voice rang out suddenly, snapping me out of my conversation with Caelum.

When I looked at him, he cast me a knowing look, as if saying: I heard what you and your brother just said; But he didn’t point it out. Instead, he shrugged and turned to Zevran— the quiet one— for the first time today.

I guess he now sees me as a traitor!

"I cannot break the spell," he drawled coldly. Seriously. "Because I do not know its composition. But I’ll disrupt it enough that whoever cast it would feel it... and she’ll be forced to return to strengthen it."

"Is that the trap?" I found myself asking, and it wasn’t until the words had left my lips and my brothers turned to look at me like I was mad that I realized how stupid it sounded.

Of course, it is the trap!

Darius snickered; "Oh love, how are you an Alpha if you think so slowly?"

And usually, that should have made me mad. That should’ve made me want to attack whoever had said that to me. But in this case, I didn’t feel the need to do any of that. I simply facepalmed myself mentally and turned away, gritting my teeth when a faint blush crept up my face.

"I was only wondering," I hissed under my breath, but nobody bought that. Nobody seemed to care.

A moment of silence passed between us before Zevran spoke up again. He asked; "What would we be doing when she comes back? I mean the strange girl?" And as soon as he asked that, Darius beamed a smile at him, clapping as he yelled; 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖

"Now, that’s a genius question! Finally, one of you has the thinking capacity of a couch potato!"

The insult burned. It didn’t just sting, it burned. And what was more infuriating is the fact that none of us had the courage to talk back at him. Why?

Because fuck it, we knew he was stronger than us!
