Chapter 402: The skeletons in our closets.

Darius.

I woke up to the sound of birds chirping in the distance, which normally would’ve been something beautiful to wake up to. But do you know all I felt?

Nothing.

I felt absolutely nothing.

I sat up in bed slowly, moved away the arms of the beauties that were draped around my torso and chest and climbed off my bed.

"Alpha... come back to bed," Natalie, one of the girls moaned in her sleep, her dainty hands tried to catch the hem of my open shirt as she muttered quietly, but eying her with contempt, I moved away.

Because that was not a part of our relationship.

Cuddling and hugging and everything of that nature was very far from the extremely surface level affair that we had acted to have.

My eyes narrowed when she pulled Daisy, the other girl, into her arms instead and buried her face into the crook of her neck before falling back asleep.

I spent the next ten minutes watching them sleep, their entangled creamy skins catching the light whenever any of them moved. Their hairs were like veils, covering a major part of their faces and their full chests rose and fell with every breath that they took.

They were enticing in their own way. Beautiful even, which was one of the reasons I liked to have them around me— in my bed. But always, after every round of fucking, I tend to be disgusted by them like I am now.

"When you both finally get out of bed, take your things and leave immediately. Okay?" I growled so loud that they flinched out of their sleep.

"Yes, Alpha!" They chorused,

"Good."

And with that I turned and left, fighting the urge to scrub my skin clean until every trace of them was fully gone.

I cleaned my face and my mouth before stepping out of the room, and I had only walked a couple of steps when Gideon, one of my most trusted security agents, walked over, bowed his head quietly and muttered under his breath;

"Good morning Alpha,"

"Good morning," I drawled, "is anything the matter?"

His eyes found mine briefly before he turned away, a flicker of something akin to uncertainty crossing his features as he said;

"I need to speak to you."

While he spoke, I noticed the way his eyes darted around us frantically as if searching for something unknown.

I frowned. "You can speak."

As soon as I said that, his eyes darted behind his back, and when he was probably satisfied and sure that we were alone, he leaned close— so close that his sweaty stench filled my nostrils, as he said; "Ms Leilani Sinclair is alive."

I froze. And goddess, I could swear that I felt my heart leap out of my chest before it settled back in. Slowly... very slowly, a sure smile crept up my face, one that I tried to hide but failed woefully.

"Are you sure?" I asked and even before I could fully get the words out of my mouth, he nodded.

"She was attacked by a hybrid girl called Keisha, who is also the ex wife to ostracized Mister Gerald Mc—"

"Kill her." I snorted, interrupting him, not mixing the way his eyes widened as he came to look at me.

Something akin to shock crossing his features before he slowly pulled away and mumbled; "Will do that, Alpha."

"Now, tell me, how are you so sure that Leilani is alive?"

The mere thought of her being alive and living in NYC filled my heart with so much joy, it was almost uncontainable. I smiled despite myself. But my smile soon faltered when he answered slowly;
