Chapter 460: What’s for dinner?

The day did NOT end on a good note.

Oh well, I know that you may think that it is too early to draw such conclusions, especially since it’s just a few minutes past 5:00pm, but I can tell you for a fact that since the meeting with the shareholders didn’t end well, and we are ending the day with ’a visit or a date with Darius’ then there was a high chance of it going from bad to absolute worst.

I mean, it is Darius we are talking about here, not some fairytale prince all the way from zootopia.

In fact, just the thought of seeing him filled me with so much annoyance and so much anxiety that I couldn’t bring myself to fasten the buttons of my shirt properly.

My hands shook as I tried and no matter how hard that ’trying’ was, I failed. So I gave up, let the shirt fly and walked out of my room only to find my brothers already waiting at the living room when I arrived downstairs.

Zevran and Kael had been lost in a discussion before I stepped in and when they noticed me coming, they both raised their heads to acknowledge my presence, then stared pointedly at my exposed chest before turning away with cheeky smiles on their faces.

"What?" I snarled, hating the way my cheeks burned with embarrassment. "What is so funny?"

My question made Kael chuckle. In fact, they both chuckled before Zevran finally managed to reign his laughter in. He hissed; "You realize you are going to the enemy’s territory. Am I right?"

"You are right." I seethed, already hating the way the base of my throat tasted bitter from just the thought of seeing Darius. "What is it? Why do you have to remind me about it?" I asked.

He smiled once more before giving me a once over, and before I could speak, added; "Do you want to go there looking like this? Like you are on the runway for Vogue?"

My eyes darted down to my exposed chest and I frowned, shrugging nonchalantly as I explained; "My hands keep shaking uncontrollably. I feel unsteady right now."

Kael looked like he was about to respond to that but suddenly snapped his mouth shut just as a sweet, extremely tasteful scent hit my nostrils, causing my stomach to twist into a super tight knot while my wolf howled in appreciation.

What is that?!

Due to how dry my throat suddenly was, I gulped as I turned around to see what it was that has had my brothers and my wolf in a chokehold and when I saw Leilani walking down the stairs like the picture of elegance that she was, my stomach tightened into an even tighter knot.

My blood roared in my ears and rushed through my veins, not exempting the veins on my dick as it did so. And when the stupid body part stirred like a monster so had been let loose, I gulped, lowering my head slightly to whisper;

"Leilani?"

She smiled at me.

"Damn!"

Goddess, besides ’damn’ what else could I say? How else could I compliment this gorgeousness that she has bestowed upon me— upon us?"

I let my eyes trail down the exquisite black dress that hugged all her curves in all the right places, the furry dark shawl draped over her shoulder and the smoky dark make up outlining her face, making her appear like one of those beautiful women whose jobs were only to lead you straight to hell, and sighed.

I smiled. "You’re beautiful."

Now, I have found my voice. But it still sounded gruff.

My entire body was tense and no matter how much I tried to shake off this tenseness, it wouldn’t work. Nothing ever works with her.
