Fated To Three Betrayed By All Until She Rose (Leilani) by Ahvahh novel Chapter 66

Chapter 66: Beyond Logic.

Leilani.

"Or what?" This time, it was Kael who asked, taking a step forward as I retaliated by taking one backward. I ignored him.

And goddess, this was one of the times I hated how weak I was. How scared I must look being cornered by these three wretched psychopaths.

Maybe it was the idea of being cornered in such an enclosed space... or the fact that this whole scenario made a swarm of memories I preferred buried rush into my mind, but I found myself shuddering.

My lips trembled when I tried to get words out, and as if noticing my plight, Caelum stepped forward to brush his fingers over my cheek, his touch creating a spark across my skin as his eyes drilled holes into my face. He drawled;

"You’re Frostclaw. Inc.’s leading engineer?"

I should say yes and get this over with. Or maybe I should push him off and storm out of here. But I found my tongue feeling stuck to the roof of my mouth. My knees wobbled from exhaustion and anxiety and I squeezed my eyes shut, praying for all of this to be over soon.

That prayer wasn’t answered.

"Are you just going to ignore us?" Caelum continued to pry, coming to shake my shoulder slightly.

From behind him, Zevran growled; "Caelum!" But his stupid brother wouldn’t listen. Instead, that seemed to steer him on.

He tilted his head to the side as he watched me with a comical grin on his face. And then he snickered; "You can bully Chalice, but cannot even manage to take a little scolding."

And that... that finally snapped my senses into focus.

I felt a sudden surge of rage burst through me and I raised my head to meet his glare with a cold one of mine. However, as soon as our eyes met, Caelum’s smile faltered slightly. He stepped back only for a brief moment, before another smile split his face.

"Ha!" He snickered, "...how are you suddenly bold as soon as Chalice’s name is mentioned? You hate her that much?!"

"I don’t." I snapped, "...but it doesn’t mean I’ll stand by and watch you slander me!"

That made Kael scoff derisively. He shouldered through the small space between his brothers to come stand in front of me, and with his eyes glaring daggers at me, he snarled; "Like you didn’t bully her tonight!"

"Is that what she told you?"

"She doesn’t need to tell us shit for us to know that you’re nothing but a venomous snake who jerks off on inflicting pain on her twin sister!"

I chuckled darkly. "Really?"

But they weren’t fazed. Caelum continued; "You know, we haven’t forgiven you for murdering our child in cold blood, and as if that isn’t enough for you, tonight you then decided to bully Chalice... not only that, but you came for us too!"

"You snatched all of our investors from right under our noses. And I don’t care if you’re suddenly a lead engineer now or a bed warmer, but you should know that that’s not how businesses are run!"

Oh, that insult stung.

It stung like a fucking wench.

I balled my hands into tight fists, my eyes seeing nothing but red as I seethed; "First off, I had nothing to do with your imaginary child. Secondly, I didn’t bully Chalice tonight or any other night and I don’t know why she would tell you that... but I did steal your investors. And I would do it over and over again as long as it makes you three as restless as you are right now."

"Leilani!"

"This is my karma for all the times you’ve hurt me in the past. And trust me, you morons, I’m not done with you yet. I can never be done with you until you’re begging for scraps, and until you’re begging for a mercy that you’ll never get."

Their eyes darkened as they growled just like the beasts that they are. Kael however, wrapped his fingers around my neck, his voice dropping into a menacing whisper as he drawled; "Did you just call our child ’imaginary’?"

"Yeah!" I smirked, despite the searing pain at the back of my head. "Because that’s exactly what it is!"

His fingers tightened around my neck. "You’re despicable!" He growled.

Gosh, the nerves of these men! The effrontery of them to look hurt.
