Chapter 1012

He didn’t know much about Xavier, only hearing bits and pieces from Estelle and Magdalen. Yet, he found Xavier’s story intriguing.

“Hmm, Estelle nodded affirmatively

“Why would the heir of the Hanson family open a restaurant in a place like this?” Manley was utterly baffled.

“That’s a long story!” Estelle said, while giving Kya some water.

Two years ago, Xavier decided to reveal his true identity and return to the Hanson family in order to get back at Yvonne. About half a year later, when Mr. Hanson’s health started picking up, Xavier went back to his restaurant.

Mr. Hanson made multiple personal visits, hoping for him to take over the company, but Xavier couldn’t bear to leave his friends behind. People like Zachary, who didn’t have educational backgrounds or cultural literacy, and even had criminal records, would only be able to do security jobs at the Hanson family’s company Xavier thought they would be better off working freely in the restaurant.

Eventually, Xavier and his father came to an agreement. As long as his father could manage the company, he was free to do what he wanted. If one day his father got too old to manage the company, he would go back and take over the family business.

Knowing his son’s stubbornness and fearing he might leave again if pushed too hard, Mr. Hanson agreed to his proposal.

With Xavier around, the company’s shareholders felt a lot more secure, and the Francos started behaving themselves.

Especially Yvonne and her mother, who used to wish for Mr. Hanson’s early death so Yvonne could inherit the family’s companies and properties. Now they were hoping for his longevity, frightened that Xavier would throw them out of the Hanson family after Mr. Hanson’s death. They were doing everything in their power to make Mr. Hanson live a few more years, taking care of him cautiously.

Now, Xavier didn’t mingle with the Hansons. Just like before, he ran his restaurant, helped in the kitchen when it was busy, and relaxed with Zachary and the others by playing cards and sunbathing. He was leading a carefree life.

While Estelle and Manley were chatting, a crisp voice broke the silence

“Estelle!”

Estelle looked up and broke into a smile instantly, “Norah!”

Norah ran towards them, with Xavier trailing behind. Glancing at Manley and the baby in his arms, he said, “Manley!”

Manley gave a slight smile.

Estelle stood up, “Til go with you”

Knowing Xavier and Estelle had a lot to discuss, Manley didn’t follow, staying with Norah to play with Kya

As soon as Estelle entered the kitchen, Zachary and the others surrounded her greeting her enthusiastically and respectfully.

“Ms. Macclain!”

“Ms. Macclain, you’re back!”

“We’ve been missing you, looking forward to your retum!”

Estelle nodded with a smile, “Thanks, everyone!”
