"You better get outta here before I lose my cool," Charlie's face darkened.
A flash of hurt passed through Waters' eyes as she awkwardly stood up, feeling utterly embarrassed.
She turned to leave, but her pride made her turn back and ask, "I've been keeping tabs on you. I know you've always been a ladies man, but you haven't been with any women for the past two years. Isn't it because of me?"
Charlie answered coldly, "You're overthinking it."
Waters suddenly felt shaken. Ever since she appeared, there hadn't been any other women around Charlie. She had thought it was because of her. Had she been fooling herself?
"Sorry for disturbing your rest." Waters bit her lip and walked out sorrowfully.
After the door closed, Charlie lit another cigarette, his eyes flickering with a deep light.
Had it really been two years since he had been with a woman? He hadn't even noticed the passage of time, nor did he feel lonely.
If it had been the old days, he would have welcomed a woman like Waters, but now he couldn't muster the slightest interest.
He suddenly realized the problem. Was it a mental problem, or a physical one?
Charlie took a drag on his cigarette irritably, why did Waters have to bring up such irrelevant stuff in the middle of the night, disturbing his peace.
...
Marina got back really late, past midnight. She and Carson were staying in the same suite. When she returned, she saw Carson entangled with a woman at the door.
The woman seemed drunk, leaning weakly on Carson, "Mr. Foster, my heart is racing, feel it."
Just as Carson was about to speak, he saw Marina approaching.
Carson surprisingly laughed, "Not many women are as understanding as you."
"Sure!" Marina was all in, then seemed to remember something and pointed at the door, "Shouldn't you go comfort your lady friend? Or invite her in for a drink."
Carson stared at her, "You really don't care?"
Marina nodded earnestly, "Not one bit. You don't have to worry at all, I won't complain to my family or cause trouble at yours."
Carson gave a nonchalant smile, "I'm lucky to have such an understanding wife-to-be. Hearing you say that, I almost want to marry you right away."
Marina shrugged, "Don't say that. You have options, you can choose whether to move forward or step back. Isn’t it great?"
