Game over. Estelle's team came out entirely unscathed, nabbing two flags to boot. It was a total victory.
The opposing team lost their flags, and all their members got wiped out without even a chance to fight back.
Brian got up, feeling a tad embarrassed but mostly impressed.
He gawked at Estelle and Jonathan, then chuckled, "Are you guys NPCs in this game?"
"Nope!" Jonathan shook his head nonchalantly and said, "We're players just like you!"
"That's insane!" Brian enthusiastically invited them: "Your shooting skills could totally get you into official competitions!"
Jonathan glanced at Estelle, then smiled and said, "Not really our plan!"
Ryan was also starstruck and super enthusiastic. "Let's team up for games in the future. With you two, we'd be unstoppable!"
The rest of the crowd started inviting Estelle and Jonathan to join their teams too.
Henson sauntered over, smirking, "What about me? Didn't I do well?"
"Not at all; you're strong enough to beat me with ease!" Ryan replied, laughing heartily.
Everyone got to know each other in the game, and the initially tense atmosphere quickly became warm and friendly.
The coach came over, having probably seen the surveillance footage. He said to Estelle and her team, "You guys are amazing. Watching this on the monitors, it felt more like a real jungle war than a game."
If they had experienced real jungle warfare, they wouldn't have said that so casually.
It was getting late, and everyone started to leave the venue to head home.
The girl who was always hostile to Estelle suddenly chased after her. She called Estelle somewhat awkwardly, "What's your name?"
Estelle turned around and said, "Estelle."
"Can I learn shooting from you?" the girl asked bashfully.
"Your boyfriend is pretty good too!" Estelle replied with a faint smile.
Jonathan huffed, "I did it for who?"
Estelle scoffed. "Was there a chance I'd get caught?"
"What if?"
"There's no 'if'! You should reflect on where your alertness and judgment went!"
"I had all the alertness, but it was no match for my worry for you!"
...
Henson trailed behind them, enjoying their banter.
No, not banter; it was their unique way of expressing their love!
He was having a blast just watching them!
