The man in the gray-blue suit stood tall, his face indifferent.

A few high-ranking company officials trailed behind him, whispering about some merger deal.

Emily stood off to the side, murmuring, "Mr. James!"

Charlie's gaze swept over her, giving her a quiet acknowledgement.

Tracy came over to introduce her: "Mr. James, this is the new assistant, Emily."

"I know." Charlie answered, then promptly pushed open the door to the president's office and walked in.

Tracy raised an eyebrow in surprise.

Emily’s ability to come straight to the 39th floor and her being a pretty young woman, made Tracy assume she had some special relationship with Mr. James.

But seeing how cold Charlie was just now, he didn't seem to be a big fan of Emily.

Had she misunderstood something? Was Emily placed here by someone through Charlie, and Charlie wasn't too happy about it?

Once Charlie went in, Emily let out a silent sigh of relief and quickly headed to the copy room to photocopy documents.

Tracy, with today's work plan, went to report to Charlie. Remembering Charlie's praise for yesterday's coffee, she fetched him another cup.

The high-ranking officials were all in the meeting room, leaving Charlie alone in the president's office.

Tracy entered, set down the coffee in front of Charlie, and started reporting today's work plan.

Charlie signed a few documents while listening and then picked up the coffee to take a sip, murmuring, "Have Emily handle coffee duties from now on."

Tracy paused, then said, "Mr. James, would that be appropriate? Emily just started today, and this is a high-level internal meeting. The content needs to be confidential."

Charlie glanced at her coldly and asked, "Is she my assistant or yours?"

Tracy immediately replied, "Of course she's Mr. James's assistant."

"So, my word doesn't count?"

Tracy dared not say more, quickly saying, "I'll notify Emily right away."

Only then did Charlie lower his head to look at the merger case in front of him.

The other high-ranking officials didn't understand why Charlie was suddenly upset. Everyone sat nervously, not daring to utter a word.
