Tracy quickly said, “Bummer, Mr. James just stepped out. Didn’t you call him before coming?”

Waters raised an eyebrow. “I wanted to surprise him!”

Tracy gave a knowing look and said, “Well, you can wait in Mr. James’ office; he should be back soon!”

“Alright!” Waters gave Emily an extra glance before heading to the office.

Tracy followed in, carrying a cup of coffee.

After closing the office door, Tracy placed the coffee on the table with a flattering smile and said, “Three sugars, no milk!”

Waters chuckled, “Thanks for remembering my taste!”

She paused for a second and seemingly casually asked Tracy, “The new assistant seems unfamiliar. How did she get transferred to the thirty-ninth floor?”

Tracy replied, “I’m not quite sure either. She was suddenly transferred here, and she didn’t work in our group before!”

Waters pondered, “Did Charlie bring her himself?”

Tracy shook her head and said, “Unlikely, Mr. James seems rather indifferent to her. It doesn’t look like he knows her.”

Waters felt relieved, picked up the coffee, and took a sip, smiling, “I’ll wait for him myself; you go do your thing!”

“If you need anything, just tell me!” Tracy smiled.

“Sure!”

Tracy left the office and went straight to Emily’s desk, saying, “Emily, go buy some afternoon tea for Ms. Waters from the café across the street. She likes Sri Lankan tea, matcha mousse, and a piece of hazelnut chocolate. Remember these, because these are all Ms. Water’s favorites and can only be bought from that café.”

Emily thought for a moment and coldly said, “I’m sorry, I still have work from Mr. James that’s not done yet; I don’t have time to go.”

About thirty minutes later, Tracy returned with the tea and sat with Waters for ten minutes. Seeing that Emily had almost finished the report, she went back to her desk.

Emily had already sent the report to her. Tracy was carefully reviewing it and didn’t say anything to Emily.

About ten minutes later, Charlie came back.

Tracy immediately stood up: “Mr. James, Ms. Waters is here.”

Charlie glanced at Emily subconsciously, seeing her focus on her work and seemingly uninterested in Waters.

His eyes darkened, and he asked softly, “Where’s the report?”

Tracy replied, “I’ll bring it to you right away.”
