Emily felt like she was choking, she didn’t know what else there was to say to Gina, so she just said flatly, “Let’s call it a day on this matter, please clarify things to the Ferber Family, and stop bothering Martin, bye!”

Gina responded in a dark tone and hung up.

Emily put down her phone and looked up at the night sky, the stars were obscured by the city’s bright lights. So, she could no longer see the beautiful night sky like when she was a child.

The next morning, as soon as Charlie arrived at the office, several department heads were called in for a dressing down. Behind the thick wooden door, an oppressive atmosphere emanated from the office, plunging the entire 39th floor into silence

Soon after that, several vice presidents came out of the office with grim faces and left without saying a word.

The phone on Tracy’s desk suddenly rang, her face tightened, she picked up the phone, and said carefully. “Alright, I’ll be right there!”

Charlie was looking for her.

Tracy quickly tidied up the materials in her hands and headed for the office.

Since Emily came to the 39th floor, she had never seen Charlie lose his cool like that. Even Tracy seemed nervous, usually, she was always calm, she had never been so flustered before!

Could it be that he didn’t have fun with Waters yesterday?

Or was his love proposal rejected?

Or maybe, he was a bit pissed off?

A thought flashed through Emily’s mind, but she reminded herself not to overthink and to focus on her work to avoid being criticized.

At that point, Tracy was in Charlie’s office, silently waiting for Charlie to review the materials.

Tracy watched Emily’s back, bit the corner of her lips, and listened for any sound from the office

Once Emily entered the office, she steadied herself and said, “Mr. James, you wanted to see me?”

“Did you collect and organize all of Frank’s materials?” Charlie looked down, his face expressionless, his tone emotionless.

“Yes!”

Charlie suddenly raised his hand and threw a stack of papers at Emily, his face full of anger, “This is the work you’ve done? There are problems with the materials, and the data is also incomplete. I pay you to do this kind of sloppy work?”

The stack of papers hit Emily on the head and floated down like snowflakes.
