Chapter 1275

Charlie raised an eyebrow, his gaze deepening as he casually asked, “She really said that?”

“Yes, I’m quite disappointed,” Gavin replied.

The cloud over Charlie’s face gradually lifted and a smile crept across his face. “Need a hand? I can get someone to score you a pretty one.”

“Don’t think I’m as thirsty as you. I appreciate Emily for her skills, Gavin said seriously.

“Whatever you appreciate her for, she won’t work for you. And you’d better keep your distancel” Charlie warned sternly.

“Mr. James, tell me you’re not actually falling for her?” Gavin asked in surprise.

Charlie being so protective of Emily was definitely suspicious.

“No way, Charlie denied firmly. “My thing with her is way more complicated than you think. So, stay out of it!”

“Alright, but considering how loyal she is to you, you should treat her better. Stop giving her a hard time, she’s such a sweet girl!”

Whether I treat her well or not, she knows!” Charlie sneered, “Get back to work, I’m hanging up!”

“By the way, Emily got her forehead busted, Gavin said.

Charlie frowned, Tl deal with it!”

After hanging up, Charlie’s anger subsided a bit. He realized he had been a bit harsh earlier. He initially wanted Emily to come over so he could check on her wound. But, remembering her tear-streaked face that night and her pleasant date with Martin yesterday, his anger flared up again.

Did she really know how good he had been to her?

Came to think of it, she clearly had no clue!

Charlie rubbed his forehead and decided to stop overthinking things. He was more likely to reprimand her than comfort her.

In the end, he called Tracy and instructed her, “Go buy some antiseptic and wound medicine for Emily”

Tracy nodded and left the room.

Two days later, the deal with Frank was settled. Tracy brought the drafted contract to Charlie. He glanced at it and complimented her, “Good job!” Tracy smiled, “Frank was keen to work with us. I just did my part, without much effort Emily contributed more in the early stages.”

Charlie nodded, “Eitherway, you both worked hard.”

He took two bags from the table beside him and handed them to Tracy. These are rewards for you and Emily”

The assistant quickly grabbed some ice and placed it under the electric fan, hoping it’d make the breeze a bit cooler.

Yulia, fanning herself, asked her assistant, “Does Estelle Macclain have any ice? Buy some more and send them to her. Also, grab a couple more fans for her”

“Right away!” The assistant immediately replied and rushed off.

Carmella Macclain happened to be passing by just as the assistant nearly bumped into her in his haste.

“Where are you rushing off to in such a hurry?” Carmella asked, clearly annoyed.

“Yulia asked me to get Estelle some ice and a few extra fans, the assistant answered.

A flash of jealousy flashed through Carmella’s eyes, and she scoffed, “Ever since Yulia got chummy with Estelle, she only has eyes for her. You’re already running around for Yulia and now you have to cater to a designer too.”

The assistant shrugged helplessly. “It’s Yulia’s orders, I can’t exactly disobey them.

1 bet Estelle’s doing this on purpose, taking advantage of Yulia’s favor to boss you guys around. If it were me, I wouldn’t let her get away with it!” Just as Carmella finished, a stern voice sounded from behind, “Carmella, what are you blabbering about?”

Carmella spun around to find Yulia, who had seemingly appeared out of nowhere, glaring at her.
