"I won't say much, but if he hurts you again, I swear I won't let him off the hook!" Magdalene said it angrily.

Estelle’s phone rang. It was a text from Jonathan: "I want to come over; I need to talk to Magdalene."

"Jonathan? What did he say?" Magdalene leaned in.

Estelle showed her Jonathan's text.

Magdalene snatched the phone and sent a voice message to Jonathan, "Listen, Ella had accepted my suggestion and didn't need you anymore!"

Estelle’s eyes widened. "Stop kidding around!"

"What? I've already given you to him; can't I scare him a little?"

Magdalene scoffed.

Just as she finished, the door was pushed open. and Jonathan walked in, looking at Estelle nervously.

Estelle gave a somewhat helpless smile and said, "Magdalene was just joking!"

Jonathan strode toward Estelle, his eyes deep. He lifted his hand to cradle her face and leaned down to kiss her.

"Oh my God!"

Magdalene shot up and said, "Jonathan, are you trying to scare me?"

Jonathan kissed Estelle firmly once more, then turned to Magdalene, his voice low. "Do you see my resolve? Say whatever you want about me, but don't joke about Ella and me."

Magdalene stared at Jonathan's obsessive eyes, momentarily speechless. After a while, she managed to say, "Fine, I'm leaving Ella in your hands. Don't hurt her, don't bully her, or else."

Her voice choked and her eyes reddened. "I swear, I won't let you off the hook!"

Jonathan's gaze deepened. "Don't worry, I'm more afraid of her getting hurt than you are."

Estelle gave a wry smile and said, "Don't worry, no amount of Jonathan could replace you in my heart."

Magdalene finally laughed, looking at Estelle with deep eyes and said, "As long as you're happy, I'm happy."

Estelle raised her glass to clink with hers and said, "You should be happy too!"

Magdalene downed half her drink in one gulp, then asked, "Does Manley know you're back with Jonathan?"

Estelle nodded slightly and said, "He knows."

"Ah!" Magdalene chuckled, "No wonder he's been hiding abroad and not willing to come back, probably nursing a broken heart!"

"I was bound to let him down.’ Estelle took a small sip of her drink.

"Don't think like that!” Magdalene said seriously, "He used to change girlfriends like clothes. Maybe after you, he'll understand what true love is and won't play with feelings like before."
