Emily gave a firm nod and said, “Got it!” 

Linda, being scolded, was pretty pissed but didn’t dare to lash out at Charlie. She murmured to Emily, “Is he really Kya’s dad? Why didn’t you tell me before?” 

Emily sneered, “We haven’t had a wedding yet, so I didn’t tell you. Disappointed, huh?” 

“You sure know how to keep a secret! Linda blushed with embarrassment. “You kept it from me and let everyone know about my goof, are you getting a kick out of this?” 

Emily retorted coldly, “You seem to take more pleasure in my misery than anyone else, and you can’t wait to broadcast that I had a baby out of wedlock. I feel more hurt than you!” 

Linda, with an awkward look on her face, glared at Emily and stormed off. 

She slumped back into her chair, and Kenny leaned over, whispering, “Is that guy really Emily’s husband?” 

Linda, looking annoyed, replied listlessly. “Who knows?” 

“That dude looks loaded. His clothes are high-end customized stuff from an international brand and cost an arm and a leg!” Kenny whispered in front of Linda. 

Linda shot Charlie a glance. Not believing Emily could land such a rich man, she scoffed, “Must be a knockoff! He’s probably pretending to be a rich guy to save face for the Sullivan family, right?” 

Kenny was also sneakily checking out Charlie, feeling green with envy at his refined and aristocratic demeanor. 

Linda, still not believing Emily could find such a loaded man, gestured to a relative of Emily’s to ask a few more questions. 

The relative asked in a feigned concerned tone, “Emily, where does your husband work?” 

Emily hesitated as she looked at Charlie, not sure how to respond, when suddenly a few suits walked over, respectfully calling out, “Mr. James!” 

Leading the pack was Mr. Sample in a snazzy suit, looking like a top brass in his forties, sweating from rushing over. He stood before Charlie, respectful and somewhat intimidated. “Mr. James, what brings you here?” 

Following Mr. Sample were a few deputy managers and the department manager where Elliott worked. 

Gina only recognized Elliott’s department manager. She quickly excused herself from the guests she was entertaining and went over to greet him: “Welcome here!” 

The manager introduced them to Gina: “This is our branch manager, Mr. Sample, and this is the CEO of the James Group, Mr. James!” 

Gina greeted them politely, surprised and excited: “Mr. James, you’re here too!” 

Charlie nodded and said to Kya, “Play with Emily, I’ll deal with some stuff and be back to hang out with you, okay?” 

Kya obediently nodded, “Okay, daddy!” 

Upon hearing Charlie’s words, the branch staff were stunned, exchanging surprised glances. 

Wasn’t Mr. James single? How came a daughter popped up all of a sudden? 

Gina was even more shocked, her eyes wide open. 

Emily took Kya into her arms and told Charlie, “No worries, go do your stuff.” 

Charlie smiled and said, I’m here just for the wedding I just need to say a few words. Stick with Kya; don’t wander off; I’ll come find you guys later” 

The gentle and loving way he spoke to Emily stunned everyone present; their expressions varied. 

Emily knew Charlie was purposely helping her save face, but she couldn’t help blushing and nodding awkwardly, “Okay”
