Sallie understood that Estelle didn’t like this kind of activity in the Macclain family, but she also didn’t want Carmella to steal the show for the night, so she went to the side to make a phone call. Carmella was treated like a celeb by the Macclain family, she was all smiles and full of herself Suddenly, her phone rang She glanced at it, gave a wave to Elizabeth, then stepped out onto the balcony to take the call 

Simone said with a smile, “Carmella’s really busy now Heather’s treating her like a sister, always asking her about everything, even the crew. They don’t decide anything without asking Carmella for her opinion” 

Leonie smirked sarcastically. “So Carmella’s basically doing the director’s job then. Hope she doesn’t work herself to death!* 

Simone caught the jealousy in Leonie’s words and laughed, “You’re right, I wish Carmella could chill like Sallie does” 

Leonie’s face shifted, she snorted and turned away 

The caller was Finley, inviting her to dinner that evening 

Carmella chuckled, Tonight might be tricky. My grandparents are throwing a big celebration for me. With lots of guests, I can’t bail.” 

Finley laughed. “Oh really? Where’s the party, I’ll come too. It’s about time I met your folks anyway.” 

However, Carmella was no longer as enthusiastic about Finley as before, and she didn’t want their relationship to be public. She was about to sign with an agency, so her future was bright, why would she still be interested in Finley? She even worried that he may hinder her progress. 

She thought for a moment, then laughed, “Maybe next time, my parents don’t even know I’m dating. Plus with all these people here today, I’m afraid of scaring them.” 

Finley laughed, “Are you worried your parents won’t like me?” 

Of course not, I just wanna find a good time to take you to meet them, have a proper chat.” 

Finley grinned, “Sounds good. I’ll drop by your place in a few days.” 

“Great!” 

Carmella had no plans to introduce Finley to Simone, and she was just stalling him. 

They chatted a bit more before hanging up. The smile on Carmella’s face faded as she turned back to the living room. As she passed the hallway, she noticed Bennett and Terrence had left their phones on the coffee table while they went to the backyard, a message came through. 

Carmella took a quick look and saw an email from Manager Cheney of the company’s purchasing department. Her eyes narrowed as she picked up the phone. The password was the access code to their villa, she easily cracked it. 

She opened the email to find a spreadsheet detailing the procurement projects that Victor was in charge of for the month, along with the kickbacks he had received. The total was a whopping three hundred grand! 

Carmella’s heart sank Was Manager Cheney setting a trap for Victor or was Bennett having Manager Cheney keep tabs on Victor? Victor was too bold, being so reckless right after joining the company! 

She first deleted the email, then sent a message to Manager Cheney under Bennett’s name, “I’ve seen the report, don’t worry about Victor.” 

She waited a while, Manager Cheney replied, “Alright, understood!” 

Carmella quickly erased the entire conversation. Seeing Bennett still hadn’t returned, she nervously placed the phone back in its original spot. 

She found a spot away from the crowd and dialed Victor. As soon as he picked up, she said coldly, “Manager Cheney knows you were taking kickbacks from clients. Keep a low profile.”
