Mrs. Lamont turned to Mrs. Macclain with a nonchalant expression. "Mrs. Macclain, you got it all wrong. This is for Estelle."
As soon as she finished speaking, her gaze quickly swept over Simone and Carmella's momentarily frozen faces. Then she instructed the servant, "Put this over there to cool off for a bit, then bring it up to Estelle for her to enjoy during her break. And, she like sweet food, so add a bit more sugar, otherwise, she might not like it."
"Sure thing." The servant nodded and then turned around to head back to the kitchen.
Simone and Carmella were stunned by Mrs. Lamont's words. The care and affection she showed for Estelle was far beyond their expectations. Simone collected her thoughts and forced a smile, "Mrs. Lamont, you're so good to Estelle. You even know her food preferences to a tee."
Mrs. Lamont gave a light chuckle, "If her biological parents don't love her, then I will. I need to give her extra care, otherwise, this poor child would be pitiful. Don't you think so, Mrs. Macclain?"
Simone's smile froze on her face, "Her parents died early, it's indeed pitiful. But it's her good fortune to have you loving her so much."
Mrs. Lamont shook her head, "No matter how much others love her, it can never replace the love of her biological parents. Speaking of her parents, I really can't understand them. They didn't like such a lovely daughter, they must be stupid."
Simone momentarily doubted if Mrs. Lamont knew something, but seeing her serious face, she didn't seem to be mocking her. Simone forced herself to keep smiling, "Parents like that."
"Are not fit to be human!" Mrs. Lamont continued, "Even beasts protect their offspring. So, aren't they both stupid and malicious?"

Carmella tried to lighten the mood, chuckling softly, "Although my sister doesn't have the love of her biological parents, my parents still love her a lot. When my sister first came to J City and was always getting into fights, nearly expelled from school, it was my parents who helped her out."
Mrs. Lamont's eyes lit up, "Estelle can fight? That's impressive! She's such a talented girl!"
Carmella was taken aback, then she laughed awkwardly, "Yes, my sister is pretty good at fighting."
"Estelle is a wonderful child!" Mrs. Lamont praised.
Carmella was at a loss for words.
Simone didn't know if Mrs. Lamont was just being polite or if she really thought highly of Estelle because Mrs. Lamont's expression didn't seem to contain any insincerity. Could Mrs. Lamont really like Estelle that much?
Simone felt a chill in her heart, so she quickly changed the subject, "Last time at the celebration, Mr. Lamont seemed to be quite taken with Carmella. I was thinking of letting Carmella invite him to dinner alone, would he be available?"

Having steered clear of the topic of Estelle, Simone started chatting with Cathrine about other matters, with Carmella chiming in at appropriate times, flattering and trying to please Cathrine.
