Amiee whispered, “I’m sorry. I haven’t been much help to you these past two years.” 

Emily instantly refuted, “No, it’s me who didn’t reach out. I left in a hurry and got tangled up in some stuff, so I lost touch with folks back home.” 

Amiee nodded slightly. “So, are you and Charlie an item now?” 

She was about to get engaged to Josiah, Charlie’s cousin. If Emily was with Charlie, they could end up being family. 

Emily didn’t know how to explain. A helpless smile danced on her lips, “We’re just hanging out for now!” 

With a candid expression, Amiee said, “Charlie may have been a bit of a loose cannon before, but he’s accepted your daughter. He must really dig you!‘ 

Emily looked at her with clear and frank eyes, “Charlie’s been great to me. It’s just that we’re worlds apart.” 

Amiee chuckled, “Don’t sell yourself short. You’re pretty awesome, too. Or else Charlie wouldn’t be head over heels for you. He likes you, which means you’re worth his love. You’re equals!” 

Emily smiled, “Thanks, Amiee!” 

Henson and Norah came over to play with Kya and their toys. They were just kids and were totally into Kya. 

Especially Henson, he was totally smitten with cute Kya. He told Norah, “Sis, we should ask Uncle and Ms. Macclain to have a baby for us, too!” 

He dreamed about having a little cousin, a girl in a pretty dress, running around the house. It’d be so much fun, and Grandma would be thrilled. 

Plus, if his uncle had a kid, he wouldn’t be the baby of the family anymore! 

Norah laughed, “If you want Estelle to have a baby, it’d be quicker to ask Mom to pop out another one.” 

Elsewhere, Charlie was chatting with Jonathan and Carson. Knowing Charlie was with Emily, Carson joked, “You warned me off Emily before, and now you’re the one who’s with her.” 

Charlie smiled, “You tried to win her over, but Emily wasn’t into you.” 

Carson said, “If I’d stuck with it, maybe I’d have Emily as my wife by now.” 

Charlie’s smile faded, “Don’t joke about that.” 

Carson looked surprised, “Are you really into her?” 

He looked at Jonathan, “Jonah, is Charlie serious?” 

Jonathan was playing with a lighter, not smoking, just lounging on the sofa. “Whether he’s serious or not, only he knows.” 

Charlie chuckled lightly, “With Estelle standing by Emily and Jonathan so smitten with his wife, if I piss off Estelle, he’ll definitely cut ties with me.” 

Kya’s laughter echoed from the balcony, and Charlie instantly looked over, and his gaze softened. 

Carson looked at Kya. The more he looked, the more he thought she looked like Charlie. He turned to Charlie, “Is Kya really your kid?” 

Charlie’s eyes darkened, he shook his head, “No, it’s not like that.” 

Carson asked skeptically, “Are you sure?” 

Charlie replied calmly, “Of course, Emily and I were not together before she left the country.” 

Carson looked slightly disappointed, “So what’s the deal with Emily’s kid? She’s not that kind of girl!” 

‘I don’t know, she didn’t tell me, and I didn’t ask.” Charlie poured himself a drink, “Let bygones be bygones. There’s no need to rub salt in her 

wounds.” 

Jonathan lifted his eyes, gazing at Charlie with deep empathy, suddenly realizing that Emily’s secrecy towards Charlie was a kind of cruelty. 

But Ella had told him to keep mum, and he didn’t dare defy her.
