Emily glanced back, shaking her head a little nervously. "I'm not sure; it seems like my brother is sick. I just called for an ambulance."
Charlie walked over to check on Elliott, frowning as he said, "Looks like he's drank himself into a stomach problem. No need to wait for the ambulance, I can drive him to the hospital."
Emily hesitated, shaking her head. "No need; the ambulance should be here soon. Mr. James, you go ahead with your stuff!"
Charlie's gaze deepened a little, looking at her calmly. "And what stuff do I have to deal with?"
Emily looked at him, her heart tightening. Before she could say anything, Elliott vomited on the bed. Emily immediately walked over to check on him.
Elliott was hunched over the edge of the bed, throwing up some yellow liquid. Emily quickly patted his back and poured him a glass of warm water.
Charlie had already called Kent, who quickly caught up and helped Elliott down the stairs to the hospital along with Charlie.
Kent placed Elliott in the back seat of his car, while Charlie drove Emily in his own car, hurrying to the hospital.
While driving, Charlie asked Emily over his shoulder, "Where's Kya?"
Emily lowered her head slightly, her hair falling over her face, hiding her makeup-free look. "Estelle is downstairs taking care of Kya. My sister-in-law called me and said there was an emergency with my brother here and asked me to come check; she couldn't make it from B City."
After arriving at the hotel, she met Elliott's department manager in the private room downstairs. The manager told Emily that Elliott wasn't feeling well, and he had him taken to the suite upstairs to rest. Emily then hurried upstairs.
"It's most likely a stomach problem caused by excessive drinking. No need to worry too much!" Charlie said, looking at Emily in the rearview mirror.
Emily nodded slightly, turning her head to look out the window and remaining silent.
Charlie wanted to explain a few times what she had seen in the hotel corridor earlier, but Emily didn't mention it, seemingly unconcerned about his relationship with that woman.
He felt a little frustrated, the words he wanted to say never made it out of his mouth.
Upon arriving at the hospital, they quickly sent Elliott into the emergency room. Once the doctor went in to diagnose, everyone else could only wait outside.
It was late in the night, and Emily had rushed out wearing only a T-shirt. Charlie took off his suit jacket to cover her, holding her as he said, "It's not going to be a big deal, don't worry too much."
"Mmm." Emily nodded slightly.
"Come sit over here," Charlie said, guiding her to a chair with his hand.
About fifteen minutes later, the doctor came out of the emergency room. Emily immediately got up to ask, "How's my brother?"
The doctor reassured her, "Don't worry, it's acute gastritis. I've already had the nurse give him medication, and he'll be on an IV soon. He should recover quickly! But for his health, I hope you can persuade him to drink less. It's likely that he got acute gastritis from long-term drinking."
Emily sighed in relief, gratefully saying, "Okay, I understand. Thank you!"
Charlie led Emily into the emergency room. Elliott had already been given medication by the nurse and was on an IV, still asleep.
Emily's phone suddenly vibrated. It was a message from Bonnie and Estelle.
She first reported safety to Estelle, then called Bonnie to tell her about her brother's condition.
Bonnie heard it was just gastritis and felt a bit relieved, complaining, "It's all because of those social events his company arranges for him. He's been working overtime until midnight for a month straight, often attending various social events and coming home drunk. No matter how I advise him, he never listens!"
A glint appeared in Emily's eyes. "Is it just my brother who's like this, or are all his colleagues this busy?"
