Chapter 1573 

Emily struggled to resist, but soon, Charlie’s kiss made her weak in the knees. An indescribable feeling rose in her heart. Was it grief or sadness? Subconsciously, she called out, “Charlie!” 

Her voice was filled with dependence, but also choked with emotion.. 

Charlie stopped, looking up at her, seeing her eyes brimming with tears. He frowned, “What’s wrong with you?” 

Emily suddenly hugged him, burying herself in his chest. 

Charlie’s heart softened. He hugged her tightly, soothing her by stroking her hair. Then he explained, “Sure, those Horizon Enterprises folks tried to win me over with a woman, but I wasn’t interested. Even if you hadn’t shown up that day, nothing would’ve happened.” 

Emily bit her lip, choking back tears, “Let’s break up, then go back to being friends, okay?” 

Charlie stiffened, lifting her chin with his finger, his eyes dark, “Don’t you believe what I told you?” 

Emily shook her head, her eyes welling up with tears. 

“So why break up?” 

Emily remained silent. 

*How are we supposed to be friends?” Charlie smirked, “Every time I see you, I want to undress you. All I can think about is you in bed. How am I supposed to be just friends with you?” 

Emily blushed, speaking softly, “Then we can avoid seeing each other.” 

“Do you think you can run off to Oakdale City again?” Charlie snapped, “Emily, if you dare to leave, I’ll personally bring you back and make sure you can’t leave the bed. Believe it or not?” 

Emily’s eyes widened in surprise, “Are you out of your mind?” 

“So, don’t push my buttons!” Charlie glared at her coldly, biting her collarbone. “Take off my robe.” 

Emily winced in pain, lifting her leg to kick him, and when he dodged, she tried to scramble under the bed. 

If she could just get to the next room, she’d be safe. Even Charlie wouldn’t dare bully her in front of others! 

Charlie easily caught her arm, flinging her onto the bed with a scoff, “Emily, don’t forget our agreement. You don’t have the right to refuse me!” “I’ve paid off all my debts, I want to break up!” 

Emily shouted, but was quickly pinned down on the bed, her resistance futile 

At one in the morning, Charlie came back to the bedroom from the bathroom. Emily was lying on the bed, curled up. The dried tear tracks on her face made her look pitiful. 

As soon as he approached, Emily opened her eyes and backed away, her eyes filled with fear. 

Charlie bent down to touch her face, “Are you scared? If you’re scared, don’t talk about breaking up with me again. Or else it’ll only get worse!” Emily’s tears welled up again. She looked at him in both fear and anger. 

The Charlie she saw today completely shattered her previous understanding of him. His gentleness and elegance were all a facade! 

He was a madman, a devil! 

Charlie held her face to keep her from backing away, “Submit to me, and I’ll be good to you like before. You can never leave me!” 

Emily’s eyes were red and full of determination. 

Charlie, unable to let go, released his hand, kissing the tears off her cheeks, isn’t it good to be with me? Why are you always trying to run away? Trust is built by both parties. Trust me, and I won’t let you down. Don’t talk about breaking up again. It makes me angry!” 

He sighed lightly, “I admit that I was a bit out of control today. I took some pills. I’ll be fine tomorrow. You rest well, I’ll go check on Kya” 

Emily’s eyelashes fluttered slightly as she pulled the blanket over herself silently 

Charlle gently kissed her cheek again, then turned off the bedside lamp and walked out.
