Chapter 1629 

“Oh, I’m Emily Sullivan. Just call me Emily” Emily said gently, “I sorry for bothering you this afternoon. I’ll take Kya home now.” 

Mrs. James nodded and replied, “Alright, I’ll have the driver take you.” 

“Thanks. But I want to take a cab, Emily smiled faintly. She wanted to say goodbye to Charlie, but the words just wouldn’t come out. She only let Kya bid farewell to 

Mrs. James. 

Charlie gazed at Kya, his eyes deep and heavy. He smiled faintly and said, “Let me have one more hug” 

Kya reached out her arms towards Charlie and embraced his shoulders. She seemed to sense something was amiss, her big eyes wide, without saying anything. 

“Be a good girl and listen to your mom Charlie held Kya tightly and gently stroked her hair. 

“Okay!” Kya nodded. 

Emily took Kya from him and didn’t dare to meet his eyes. She walked out with Kya in her arms. 

Outside the yard, a car was already waiting for them. The driver got out and said to Emily, “Ms. Sullivan, Mr. James asked me to drive you home.” 

“Thank you, but it’s no need” Emily said, holding Kya tightly and feeling a surge of strength. 

“Mr. James said this would be the last time he’s sending you,” the driver said. 

Emily halted for a moment, tears welled up in her eyes again. She couldn’t help but look up, and continue walked forward without turning her head back, “Please thank Mr. James for me, but I don’t need.” 

Now that they were parting away, Emily wanted to make it as final as possible. She didn’t want to have any lingering ties with him. 

She knew she would have to walk her own path from now on! 

Once Emily left, Mrs. James sat down and raised an eyebrow as she looked at Charlie, “So, what’s going on?” 

At first, she thought Kya was a child associated with Carson’s people, and it made sense that Charlie was looking after her for a while. 

However, now that she knew Kya was Emily’s child, she realized that Charlie wasn’t simply helping her look after the child for a while. 

Charlie’s heart ached tremendously. He forced a smile, “Nothing’s going on. From now on, I won’t bring Kya back here again.” 

Mrs. James frowned and insisted, “Don’t evade my question. Is Kya your child?” 

Charlie wryly retorted, “I wish she were.” 

“Really not?” 

Mrs. James sounded a bit disappointed, “Do you have feelings for Ms. Sullivan?” 

Charlie didn’t say anything. He turned and walked away, his departing figure filled with a desolate and chilling silence. 

Mrs. James sat there, the more she thought about it, the more something felt amiss. She took out her phone and called Waters. “Waters, do you know a girl named Emily who’s with Charlie?” 

Waters hesitated for a moment before answering with a light laugh, “How do you know about Emily, auntie?” 

“She came to our house today Mrs. James said. 

Waters seemed surprised, “Mr. James brought her there?” 

“Yes, that’s why I’m asking What’s going on between them?” 

Waters let out a chuckle, “Auntie, I shouldn’t tell you about this. But since Emily has been to your house, I can’t keep it from you. Emily is Mr. James’ personal assistant, I don’t know what she’s done, but she managed to catch his attention. However, she’s been quite troublesome and has caused a lot of trouble for the James family” 

Mrs James cut him off, “What happened?” 

Waters then told her the incident where Emily colluded with people from Horizon Enterprises, accepted bribes from them, and sold bidding details to Honzon.
