Estelle smiled gently and continued slicing the birthday cake, her hands working meticulously as the crowd around her swelled. Lambert and Sylvia, seeing her need, stepped up to lend a hand.
Jonathan found a quiet spot to sit, observing Estelle's bustling presence amidst the guests. He then glanced at the cake, noticing the small chocolate heart on it, and intertwined his fingers thoughtfully, gazing out the window. His mood, it seemed, wasn't as sour as he had expected.
The cake was a hit, and soon enough, the guests were playfully tossing chunks at each other as the bar lights dimmed and the atmosphere buzzed with excitement. Estelle dodged a playful cake attack and settled in a secluded corner to sit.
Lambert made his way towards Estelle but was intercepted by a woman with golden curls, who pulled him onto the dance floor. Soon, he was surrounded by a bevy of women.
Throwing such an extravagant birthday bash for a girl made Lambert quite the catch in their eyes – handsome and apparently wealthy, he was not someone they were willing to let slip by easily.
From across the room, Estelle caught Jonathan's eye and then stood, heading toward a quiet hallway.
Jonathan, sensing her movement, left his untouched piece of cake on the table – the small heart decoration now missing – and followed her out.
Within minutes, Jonathan was behind the wheel, driving away from Zion.
The guards spotted his car from a distance and swung the gates open wide, not daring to approach for questioning.
The car slipped away smoothly, taking to the tree-lined streets and speeding along the scenic route.
Estelle sat in the passenger seat, the afternoon breeze playing with her hair, feeling a sense of relief despite an unfinished mission.
She turned to him, "Are you angry?"
"Not at all," Jonathan replied, his eyes soft as he took her hand in his, "Just now, I had a bit of an epiphany."
"What's that?" Estelle's face was alight with interest.
"Ella, you are outstanding, and naturally, many will admire you. When you're held in such high regard, I should feel proud, not possessive or upset."
They drove up the asphalt driveway and parked in front of the villa, where a suited butler and a maid in a crisp uniform waited.
Estelle felt like she was stepping into Villa del Sol all over again.
Jonathan opened the car door and helped her out, the staff greeting them with warm smiles, "Welcome home, sir, madam!"
As they walked inside, Estelle whispered with a laugh, "Have you brought other girls here before?"
Jonathan looked at her, genuinely surprised, "Why would you think that?"
"Then why did they call me 'madam' the first time they saw me?" Estelle's brow arched playfully.
Jonathan belonged to her, but what about Alvis?
