His wife?
Linda, who had just been helped up from the floor, looked even more surprised. "You two got married?"
Estelle smiled and nodded. "Yes, let me formally introduce you to my husband, Jonathan!"
Linda glanced at Lambert with a mix of awkwardness and joy, managing a sheepish smile. "Oh, I see!"
Lambert, his eyes lowered, said quietly, "Now that everyone's here, let's start the feast!"
He didn't want Estelle to remain standing for too long.
Guests took their seats as the servers brought out wine and an assortment of dishes.
Linda had thrown this party to flaunt her status and to outshine Estelle, but when she saw the commanding presence of Jonathan, Estelle's husband, her desire to boast quickly faded.
Sylvia took delight in Linda's discomfiture, and seeing Lambert with a stern face, she was quite pleased.
She chatted softly with Estelle before pulling Amiee and Evelyn into the conversation, turning the event into what seemed like an ordinary get-together among friends.
Linda, however, was fuming inwardly and couldn't shake off her foul mood.
Jonathan paid no mind to the others, attending to Estelle with care. Once she had eaten enough, he escorted her out early.
Considering Estelle's injuries, no one objected.
After Estelle and Jonathan left, Sylvia, Amiee, and others followed suit, leaving only Lambert and Linda at the table.
Lambert sneered at Linda. "Do you feel like a clown?"
Embarrassed and angry, Linda demanded, "Why didn't you tell me she was married?"
If Lambert had told her earlier, she wouldn't have made such a public fool of herself!
"Why should I tell you?" Lambert retorted coldly. "Your embarrassment is not my concern."
With that, he too stood up and left.
Linda, enraged, kicked the table and stubbed her toe, nearly hopping in pain.
Xavier's wounds were healing well, but his spirits remained low.
His eyes narrowed, and he flipped her over, yanking off her dress.
The ripping sound of the dress was jarring, yet somehow arousing.
Sylvia's delicate shoulder blades and the sensual curve of her body were exposed, with a striking red mandala tattoo on her left shoulder catching Gabriel's attention. He paused and touched it. "When did you get this?"
"After I left you, Gab," she replied with a tremble.
"Why this design?" he asked, his voice rough.
Sylvia hesitated before whispering, "I didn't like the birthmark there!"
Gabriel's expression cooled, as if her unilateral decision to add something on her body without his consent irked him.
"You didn't like it?" Sylvia propped herself up, turning to him with eyes full of seduction.
His gaze was icy and penetrating as he commanded,
"Stay down."
