“Come on, it was just a joke!” Sylvia lifted her glass and took a sip, “But let’s not bring it up again, okay?”
“Sure thing!” Baron, seeing Sylvia drink, could hardly contain his glee. “After all, my company’s looking forward to working with Ms. Jarvis. We can’t afford any bad blood.”
He raised his glass again, “To a fruitful collaboration, Ms. Jarvis!”
Sylvia took another sip, her smile polite yet distant, “Aren’t you going to sing, Mr. Barlow?”
“Let’s leave the singing to Dennis. We have more important things to talk about.” Baron edged closer, silently counting the minutes, watching for any sign of Sylvia’s reaction.
Usually, it only took three minutes for the drug to kick in, leaving the person weak but conscious.
If they passed out, that took all the fun out of it.
However, after Dennis finished two songs, Sylvia showed no signs of being affected, and Baron started to worry.
Suddenly, Sylvia stood up, “I need to use the restroom.”
Baron quickly followed, “Blue Oasis can be a bit sketchy. Let me escort you there, stand guard outside.”
Sylvia didn’t object and headed for the door, opening it just as Gabriel was about to enter.
Baron frowned deeply, shooting a venomous look at Audrey behind Gabriel for not stopping him.
Sylvia, too, seemed disappointed, her wrist subtly twisting to hide something shiny up her sleeve.
“I’m not feeling well. Let’s head back,” she said, moving towards Gabriel.
Baron’s heart skipped a beat as he reached out to grab Sylvia.
Leaning on Gabriel’s arm, Sylvia turned back to Audrey, “Since Blake’s already gone, we might as well leave too!”
Gabriel wrapped his arm around her waist and led her outside.
Baron watched, helpless and seething, as they disappeared.
Realizing what happened, Dennis asked, “Have you... with Audrey?”
Baron, indifferent to her state, “Of course. Why else would I bother?”
Seeing an opportunity, Dennis’s eyes glinted with malice, “Well, since Sylvia’s not here.”
Fueled by frustration and revenge, Baron didn’t hesitate, dismissing Dennis’s presence as he began to take advantage of Audrey’s weakened state.
As the night wore on, Dennis, fueled by alcohol and envy, waited for his turn, watching as Baron quickly succumbed to his vices and passed out.
Seeing his chance, Dennis approached, “Baron, I’ve always liked Audrey too.”
Baron, barely coherent, dismissed him with a wave, “What’s mine is yours, go ahead.”
Dennis, thrilled, moved towards Audrey, his intentions clear.
