She looked up at the man, her face flushed from the wine, making her appear even more enchanting. "No wonder Audrey can't get over you. If I had heard you sing earlier, maybe I would have fallen for you too."
Gabriel gave her a nonchalant look. "Go to sleep."
Sylvia, her gaze slightly tipsy, asked, "Can I make one more request?"
"Go ahead."
"I'm really drunk and can't get up!"
Gabriel took the wine glass from her hand, scooped her up, and carried her towards the bedroom.
That night, Sylvia wanted to show her "appreciation" for Gabriel singing to her by putting on a bit of a show of respect. She overslept in the morning but still got up, freshened up, and made a hearty breakfast.
While eating, Gabriel asked her, "Got a headache?"
Sylvia shrugged. "A bit!"
"Don't drink so much next time!" Gabriel advised.
Sylvia laughed, "Are you worried about my health, or do you just dislike me clinging to you?"
Gabriel paused, spoon in hand, and looked up at her.
Sylvia quickly conceded, "Okay, okay, whatever you say. I won't argue!"
Gabriel smiled slightly and continued with his soup.
Today, Sylvia didn't ask Gabriel if he would continue to be her bodyguard. Anyway, when they left the house, she naturally handed him the car keys.
Some things indeed shouldn't be indulged. Once indulged, she would only want more.
Upon reaching the office, Milanda brought over two cups of coffee, glanced cautiously at Gabriel, and whispered with a giggle, "Boss, you've been looking so radiant these past few days!"
Sylvia raised an eyebrow. "Wasn't I always?"
Her clothes, still from last night, were wrinkled under her cashmere coat.
Sylvia paused in surprise.
Without a word, Audrey rushed up to slap Sylvia.
Sylvia caught her wrist, twisted it back, and said coldly, "What's gotten into you?"
Audrey glared at Sylvia with rage. "Was it you?"
Holding Audrey's arm, Sylvia noticed the revealing bruises on her neck as her collar was pulled open. She instantly understood.
After pushing Audrey's arm away, Sylvia showed no sympathy, her demeanor still icy. "You brought this on yourself. You knew exactly what kind of person Baron is!"
Stumbling back a few steps, Audrey glared at Sylvia with hatred. "It was you! You switched the drinks!"
"So what if I switched the drinks? It's your own scheme backfiring, and now you're blaming me!" Sylvia scoffed. "Getting involved with someone like Baron, Audrey, you're so foolish to even dream that Gabriel could like you."
