As they shared drinks and laughter, the camaraderie between the two deepened. Perhaps because they were celebrating the holiday season far from home, the connection felt more heartfelt. Before they knew it, they had polished off an entire bottle of wine.
Robin stood up, "I'll grab another bottle; just give me a minute."
"Sure, let's keep going until we can't drink anymore!" Diana said with a gentle laugh.
Watching him head towards the side room, Diana followed, leaning against the doorframe. "You really know how to enjoy life, making a mini-bar in here. Is this so you can grab a drink anytime you're working?"
Robin chuckled, "Just threw it together; didn't mean for it to be a spectacle!"
"Not at all, I think it's quite stylish," Diana commented as she walked in, taking a moment to admire Robin's mini-bar and bookshelf before settling onto the sofa. "This is really comfy. Let's just stay here, drink, and chat."
Sitting down beside her, Robin opened the bottle and poured two glasses. "Didn't take you for someone who could hold their liquor so well!"
"It's alright, I mainly wanted to keep you company today, especially since it's just the two of us for the holidays," Diana said softly.
Robin took a big gulp, laughing at himself, "You pity me, don't you?"
"Pity you? Why would you say that?" Diana asked, then frowned. "Wait, you and Sophia haven't made up yet? Don't tell me it's still about that incident?"
"I've explained it to her, but she won't believe me. What more can I do?" Robin's face showed his frustration.
Diana bit her lip, "So she's still holding that against you because you helped me. That does seem a bit much."
She whispered, "Do you think Sophia's doing this on purpose? Maybe she's found someone else and is looking for a way out?"
Robin shook his head, "No, I'm confident about how Sophia feels about me."
"It's odd, having a boyfriend but not avoiding being alone with other men in her bedroom," Diana said innocently. "I used to think Sophia argued with you out of jealousy. Now, it seems that might not be the case."
"Do you think she's interested in someone else?" Robin frowned at Diana.
"Just guessing," Diana smiled sheepishly. "I shouldn't say too much."
"It's okay, we're friends. Speak your mind," Robin said, his gaze half-drunken and voice hoarse.
"I just feel bad for you, putting in so much effort into your business, and Sophia not being understanding, picking fights over trivial things," Diana sighed. "If I had a boyfriend as good as you, I'd be totally devoted, taking care of him every day, making sure he can focus on his work without distractions."
"Being able to cook and so thoughtful, anyone dating you would be lucky," Robin remarked.
"I... I was just speaking my mind, not as great as you make it sound," Diana blushed, shyly looking away.
