Estelle chuckled, "Put a bit more pressure on your finger and try again!"
"Alright!"
Sylvia, bubbling with excitement, did as Estelle suggested. This time, the match lit, but she pressed too hard, and it flew off target.
Gabriel shook his head, "Looks like it's up to me to save our faces!"
Sylvia handed him the matches with a look of anticipation.
With a casual flair, Gabriel held the matchbox and a match in one hand, flicked it without even looking, and the lit match landed right on the firework. The firework soared into the air, blooming into a giant peony in the sky.
"Wow!" Sylvia exclaimed, looking up in amazement.
Gabriel turned to her, "Admit you're not quite the master yet?"
Sylvia, with sparkling eyes and her hands behind her back, laughed, "This is clearly your fault!"
"How so?" Gabriel questioned.
Sylvia nodded, "Look, every time I can't do something, someone always covers for me. Why should I bother becoming an expert?"
Gabriel, "..."
Jonathan, with his arm around Estelle's shoulders, moved a bit away. Estelle, puzzled, looked at him.
Jonathan said, "I figured we'd give Gab some space to show off!"
Estelle glanced over at the two and giggled quietly.
Next year's show is going to be even more lively!
Jonathan also gave it a try, hitting a firework placed the farthest away. Estelle, not to be outdone, grabbed some matches to compete.
Gabriel joined in, flicking a match that bounced off one firework and lit another, two fireworks igniting in succession.
Estelle wasn't going to be left behind and tried to flick three times.
Jonathan replied, "Saw someone else playing, thought Ella would like it too."
He always thought about making up for what Estelle missed in her childhood, one thing at a time.
Watching the two girls playing like children, Gabriel said softly, "Both of them didn't have a normal childhood, but luckily, they grew up healthy and safe!"
Not just physically, but mentally as well.
Estelle and Sylvia shared many similarities in their backgrounds but grew up to be mentally strong and brave.
Jonathan smiled lightly, "That's all thanks to you, big brother!"
Gabriel smiled, "I've taken care of her for ten years, the next few decades are in your hands!"
"Of course!" Jonathan smiled, pausing before slowly adding, "And Sylvia? Are you comfortable leaving her next few decades to someone else?"
Gabriel's pupils contracted, his gaze as deep as the night, remaining silent.
