Sophie realized she was going nowhere with the conversation, so she decided to retreat gracefully by immersing herself in a game on her phone.
Upon arriving home, she gave a casual wave goodbye to her friend and headed towards her door. After taking a few steps, she paused and called back, "Are we still on for a run tomorrow morning?"
"Definitely! I'll be here right on time to wake you!" Jake responded with a laugh.
"Okay, goodnight then!" Sophie waved once more, her steps light as she entered her home.
Jake watched her through the fence until she was safely inside. Only then did he turn towards his own home, his expression cooling as he dialed Blair's number, "Did you make it home?"
"Just got in. I'm free tomorrow morning; thought I'd stop by your place," Blair offered.
"Don't bother. She doesn't seem to care, so why should I?" Jake's voice carried a note of frustration.
The more he tried to elicit a response, the colder he felt inside.
Blair chuckled softly, "Come on, don't give up so soon. You're just getting started. Keep calm."
Jake was growing tired of these immature tactics, feeling more like a clown each time Sophie showed her indifference. "Whether she cares or not doesn't change how I feel about her. So why should I need to know?"
"If you said that to me, I'd be swooning!" Blair teased, then quickly added, "Just kidding! You don't want to know because you're afraid of the answer. But listen, if you want to be with Sophie, you need to make a move. She's clearly a bit clueless when it comes to romance. Remember how long she chased after Robin? It shows she's not great at navigating matters of the heart."
Jake frowned, "I just worry about how things might turn out."
"Don't worry, I've got your back. Just follow my lead!" Blair assured him.
"Thanks, I appreciate it," Jake replied, feeling a bit more reassured.
"No need to thank me. I'm off to shower. See you tomorrow!"
Blair, grinning, hugged Jake and held up a box of durian pastries, "Sophie, Jake got these for me. Want some?"
Jake's voice was cold, "I bought them for you. Don't share."
Blair laughed, "Sophie's not a stranger!"
Jake just gave Sophie a brief look, saying nothing.
Then the dream spiraled into absurdity. The room's lights flickered, people sang, others drank, while Jake and Blair sang a duet. The crowd urged them to kiss.
As Jake gazed deeply into Blair’s eyes, moving in for a kiss, Sophie felt a sudden wave of panic and fear. She rushed forward, grabbing Jake's hand, "You can't kiss her!"
In the dim light, Jake's gaze was deep and haunting, "And why can't I?"

Why are the chapters from 61 so horrible to read. We cannot even make out a single line.completely and we cant even lessen the fonts to make it legible. It is such a killjoy....
2796 isn't getting sent through and most of 2795 was repeated....
