"Jason!" Sophia couldn't help but call out to him.
"I don't want to leave. Can we just cuddle and sleep like we did that night?" Jason pressed his forehead against hers as he asked.
Sophia remembered his recent illness, "Are you over your cold yet?"
"Would staying sick mean I could stay?" Jason asked seriously, his tone suggesting that he would willingly catch a cold right then if it meant he could stay with her.
Sophia's eyes crinkled with amusement, yet she huffed, "Why didn't you drink the soup Ms. Simmons made for you? Serves you right if it tasted bad!"
Jason furrowed his brows, "What?"
Then it dawned on him, "The soup from Easter night, you had the kitchen make it for me?"
Sophia wrapped her arms around his neck, nodding, "Yes!"
"I had no idea!" Jason inwardly cursed Evelyn for the misunderstanding, while his heart swelled with affection. He gently kissed her cheek, "If I'd known it was you who had it made, how could I not have drunk it?"
Sophia asked, "It wasn't because you were mad at me?"
"Not at all!" Jason smiled lightly, "Knowing you were thinking of me, any anger I had just melted away!"
Only then did Sophia smile, "That's more like it!"
Jason kissed her cheek again, then laid her down on the bed, his cool lips wandering along her jawline, "I must have owed you from a past life, how come I can't seem to repay it all?"
Their lips met again, and Sophia's mind turned to mush under the intensity of the kiss, until she felt Jason's hand at the back of her dress. She quickly grabbed his hand, "Jason!"
Assuming she was still entangled in her past relationship, he didn't push her, "I'll go take a shower. Leave some room for me in the bed, I won't touch you."
Sophia nodded, her face flushed.
After kissing her eyes and lingering at her neck for a moment, Jason got up and headed to the bathroom.
After a bit of struggle, Sophia lazily opened her eyes, her voice soft and childlike, "Jason!"
"Hmm," Jason responded, leaning down to kiss her lips.
As they naturally responded to each other, some things began to spiral out of control.
Finally, Jason paused, whispering in Sophia's ear, "Does this mean we're together now?"
Sophia, now fully awake and catching her breath, suddenly remembered their argument when she had retorted that she hadn't agreed to be with him.
Resting her forehead against his collarbone, she bit her lip and smiled, "We'll see how you do!"
Jason said, "I've been trying since you were born. Even if you don't remember the first ten years, that's almost two decades now."
Hearing his wistful voice, Sophia almost burst into laughter.
