Amy frowned, hastily interjecting, "This really has nothing to do with my boss. She’s not responsible for paying me out of her own pocket."

Harry let out a cold laugh. "Oh, come on. You work for her company, don’t you? She’s nice to you when it doesn’t cost her anything, but when it matters, she disappears. Let me tell you, all bosses are the same—they talk a big game but just squeeze every bit out of regular employees like us. Only a fool would actually trust them."

Amy didn’t want to discuss Sylvia any further. She pulled out her phone. "How much was the hospital bill? I’ll transfer it to you right now."

He replied, "It was over a thousand dollars. But forget it, I’m your boyfriend—that’s not something we need to keep score over. Besides, now you can see who actually cares about you."

"You said you were broke. You should keep the money and pay off your loans as soon as you can," Amy insisted, transferring him the money anyway.

Harry muttered something about Amy being too serious, but he accepted the transfer without hesitation.

Once the money was safely in his account, Harry’s tone became even warmer. He started fussing over Amy, fetching her coat and her bag, then slipped his arm around her shoulders as they headed out.

Leaving the hospital, Harry drove them back to his apartment.

He wasn’t a local—just worked in the city—and was renting a modest two-bedroom place.

Inside, Harry pulled Amy close for a while, kissing her, before finally saying, "Lydia, I’ve got an idea to make some real money. Want to hear it?"

Amy eyed him warily. "What kind of idea?"

Harry lounged back against the sofa, looking at her. "We sue TENDA’s CEO. We say he drugged and assaulted you."

"What?" Amy stared at him in shock.

Harry immediately grabbed her hand. "Hey, calm down and hear me out. That CEO’s got money. Even if he does get arrested, he’ll just pay someone off and be out in no time. If we sue, it’s the perfect way to get revenge for you."

Amy still couldn’t accept it. "Even if I didn’t care about my own name, if this blows up, it’ll ruin the company’s reputation too. I can’t do that. I won’t drag my boss into this."

"Oh great, here we go with your boss again!" Harry snapped, irritation creeping into his voice. "You work your fingers to the bone for that company, and what do you get? If this works, we’ll have a hundred grand. I can finally pay off my debts, and we’ll still have tens of thousands left over!"

"If they fire you over this, you’ll walk away with a fat severance. However you look at it, it’s a win."

"No," Amy said firmly, refusing to budge. "My boss has always treated us well. I won’t betray her, no matter what."

"She should be responsible for you when you get hurt at work!" Harry argued, pressing harder.

Amy shook her head. "I was the one who contacted TENDA on my own. This has nothing to do with my boss."

Seeing that Amy wouldn’t be swayed no matter what he said, Harry lost his patience. He suddenly shot up from the sofa, glaring at her. "Amy, if you don’t do this, those loan sharks are going to be after me forever. I could even get hurt. You need to decide—who’s more important to you, your boss or me?"
